VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK Minutes -1- December 10, 1985 VG--37 v0 OF Ogke 0 p N 4 2 COUNtl VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK 1200 OAK BROOK ROAD OAK BROOK, ILLINOIS 654-2220 December 4, 1985 MEMO TO: Village President, Board of Trustees and Village Manager FROM: Richard A. Martens, Village Attorney SUBJECT: Abandoned Vehicle Ordinance In response to the concerns of residents in Timber Trails and certain areas along York Road, I have drafted the attached abandoned vehicle ordinance which prohibits persons from allowing abandoned vehicles to remain on their property in plain view for longer than seven (7) days. In general, an abandoned vehicle is one in a state of disrepair rendering the vehicle incapable of being driven in its condition or one which has not been moved or used in seven or more days and is apparently deserted. I would note that the ordinance specifically allows inoperable vehicles to be maintained in enclosed buildings. Hopefully this ordinance will allow us to address the automobile blight brought to our attention by the Timber Trails and York Road residents. Respectfully submitted, Richard A. Martens Village Attorney RAM/jr Attachment cc: Albert G. Ceren, Chief of Police
