SUBJECT: Amendment to pay Plan - Aiwition of Community Service Officer
REOUNMENDATION: That the Village Board approve an amendment to the Village's
Pay Plan to add a Community service Officer Position to
Grade 4.
The Village's 1988/1989 Budget included the hiring Of twO full-time Communitly
service officers to be classified in Grade 4 ($18,146 - $25,599). These
individuals would be civilian employees as cOmPaW to fully "" Police
officers. Their duties would be Pred0minantlY se ice related, which would
reduce the service tasks currently handled by police officers and would
therefore all more tine for them to spend on patrol, traffic, and other
police enforcement functions. The following duties would be performed hj the
CSO's rather than police officers:
a. Traffic control at accident scene and special events.
b. Animal control.
c. Vehicular leckouts.
& Disabled motorists.

f. Local pink-up and delivery.
gW Relief for ccamunicabons officers.
