AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. G-60, AS AMENDED, THE "ZONING
ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, ILLINOIS, OF 1966", RELATIVE
TO REZONING AND RECLASSIFYING CERTAIN TERRITORY LOCATED AT THE
SOUTHWEST CORNER OF 31st STREET AND ROUTE 83, IN THE VILLAGE OF
OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES„ ILLINOIS
WHEREAS, the Village of Oak Brook has established a policy to maintain the
residential character of the area known as the 31st Street Corridor, and to establish
residential zoning and uses along the length of 31st Street through the Village; and
WHEREAS, the Village has initiated several petitions to rezone various par-
cels along 31st Street to residential zoning district categories in furtherance of this
policy; and
WHEREAS, this policy is reflected in the revised Official Comprehensive Plan
of the Village of Oak Brook as recommended by the Plan Commission and adopted by
the President and Board of Trustees in May, 1978; and
WHEREAS, the Village, in furtherance of this policy, has initiated a petition
to rezone various parcels comprising of approximately 88.5 acres at the southwest
corner of 31st Street and Route 83 from the Institutional district to the R-3 Single
Family Detached District with appropriate special uses; and
WHEREAS, said petition is consistent with the Official Comprehensive Plan
adopted in May, 1978, the previously adopted Comprehensive Plan, and with the
trend of development on the Properties in the surrounding and abutting area; and
WHEREAS, all required public hearings have been held and the property
owner has participated in said proceedings; and
WHEREAS, the Zoning Board of Appeals of the Village of Oak Brook has held
a public hearing pursuant to statutory notice on the proposed rezoning and has
submitted its findings and recommendations to the President and Board of Trustees;
and
WHEREAS, the Plan Commission held a public meeting to consider said
proposal and has submitted its recommendations to the President and Board of
Trustees; and
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Oak Brook
deem the passage of this Ordinance to be in the best interest and in furtherance of
the public health, safety, and general welfare of the Village of Oak Brook.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of
Trustees of the Village of Oak Brook, DuPage and Cook Counties, Illinois, that:
SECTION 1: The provisions of the preamble hereinabove set forth are hereby
restated herein as though herein fully set forth.
SECTION 2: The property described in Exhibit"A", which is attached hereto and by
this reference incorporated herein, is hereby rezoned and reclassified into the R-3
Single Family Detached Residence District zoning classification, as provided under
Section VII (E) and made pursuant to Section XIII (I) of Ordinance No. G-60, as
amended, the Zoning Ordinance of the Village of Oak Brook, Illinois, of 1966, with a
Special Use for a chapel with accessory uses customarily incidental thereto, .
including, but not limited to, cemetaries or private burial plots, all in accordance
with Sections VII (C)-(2) (b) and VII (C) (2) (g) of the Zoning-Ordinance, as referenced
in Section VII (E) (2) of said Ordinance.

SECTION 3: The property described in Exhibit "B", which is attached hereto and by
this reference incorporated herein, is hereby rezoned and reclassified into the R-3
Single Family Detached Residence District zoning classification, as provided under
Section VII (E) and made pursuant to Section XIII (I) of Ordinance No. G-60, as
amended, the Zoning Ordinance of the Village of Oak Brook, Illinois, of 1966, with a
Special Use for a monastery with accessory uses customarily incidental thereto,
including, but not limited to, dwelling units and lodging rooms, all in accordance
with Sections VII (C) (2) (c) and VII (C) (2) (g) of the Zoning Ordinance, as referenced
in Section VII (E) (2) of said Ordinance.
SECTION 4: The property described in Exhibit "C", which is attached hereto and by
this reference incorporated herein, is hereby rezoned and reclassified into the R-3
Single Family Detached Residence District zoning classification, as provided under
Section VII (E) and made pursuant to Section XIII (I) of Ordinance No. G-60, as
amended, the Zoning Ordinance of the Village of Oak Brook, Illinois, of 1966, with'a
Special Use for the growing of farm and garden crops and nursery stock, and
accessory uses customarily incidental thereto, all in accordance with Sections VII (C)
(2) (a) and VII (C) (2) (g) of the Zoning Ordinance, as referenced in Section VII (E) (2)
of said Ordinance.
SECTION 5: The Village Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to' modify and
amend the Zoning Map of the Village of Oak Brook and all other pertinent documents
and records to reflect the rezoning and reclassification of the property hereinbef ore
described, all in accordance with the provisions of this Ordinance and as otherwise
provided by law.
SECTION 6: All ordinances, rules, and regulations of the Village of Oak Brook
which are in conflict with the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby repealed solely
to the extent of the conflict, and only as they apply to the property hereinbefore
described.
SECTION 7: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its
approval and publication as by Statute in such cases made and provided. This Ordin-
ance shall be published in pamphlet form.
