ORDINANCE NO. S- 609
AN ORDINANCE ASCERTAINING THE PREVAILING RATE OF WAGES
FOR LABORERS, WORKMEN AND MWHANICS EKPLOYED ON PUBLIC
wORKS IN THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND
COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS
WHEREAS, the State of Illinois has enacted "An Act Regulating Wages of
Laborers, Mechanics and Other Workers Employed In Any Public Works By The State,
County, City Or Any Public Body Or Any Political Subdivision Or By Any One Under
Contract For Public Works," approved June 26, 1941, as amended, Sections 39s-1
through 39s-12, inclusive, of Chapter 48 of the Illinois Revised Statutes; and
WHEREAS, the aforesaid Act requires that the Board of Trustees of the
Village of Oak Brook investigate and ascertain the prevailing rate of wages as
defined in said Act for laborers, mechanics and other workmen in the locality of
said village, employed in performing construction of public works for said
Village, exclusive of maintenance work;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows:
Section 1: To the extent and as required by Section 39s-1 throuch 39s-
12, of Chapter 48 of the Illinois Revised Statutes, the general prevailing rate
of wages in this locality for laborers, mechanics and other workmen engaged in
the construction of public works coming under the jurisdiction of this Village is
hereby ascertained to be the sane as the prevailing rate of wages for
construction work in the DuPage County area as determined by the Department of
Labor of the State of Illinois as of June 2, 1987. A copy of that determination ;
is attached hereto, labelled Exhibit "A" and made a part thereof. The definition '

of any terms appearing in this Ordinance which are also used in the aforesaid Act
shall be the sane as in said Act.
Section 2: Nothing herein contained shall be construed to apply said
general prevailirate of wages as herein ascertained to any work or employment
except public works construction of this Village to the extent required by the
aforesaid Act.
Section 3: The Village Clerk shall publicly post and keep available
for inspectio any interested party in the Village Hall this determination of
such prevailing rate of wage.
Section 4: The Village shall mail a copy of this determination to any
employer, and to any association of employers and to any person or association of
employees who have filed, or file their names and addresses, with a request that
copies of any determination stating the particular rates and the particular class
of workmen whose wages will be affected by such rates be mailed to than.
Section 5: The Village Clerk shall prompitly file a certified copy of
this Ordinance with the Secretary of State of the State of Illinois.
Section 6: The Village Clerk shall cause to be published in a
newspaper Zr gererai circulation within the Village a notice of the determination
made hereby, and such publication shall constitute notice that such determination
is effective.
Section 7: All ordinances, rules and regulations of the Village of Oak
Brook which are in conflict with the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.
