AN ORDINANCE CALLING FOR THE SUBMISSION OF A PUBLIC QUESTION
TO THE VOTERS OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, COOK & DU PAGE COUNTIES, IL
AT THE GENERAL ELECTION ON NOVEMBER 5, 1996
WHEREAS, Article 28 of the Illinois Election Code authorizes governing
boards of political subdivisions to initiate the submission of a public
question to the voters of the political subdivision; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Oak Brook wishes to submit an advisory
referendum to the voters of the Village on the question:
Shall the Village of Oak Brook utilize funds available in its YES
General Corporate Fund, in the amount of approximately $3.5
million, to construct and equip a new public library at a
site located at the Oak Brook Sports Core, on the north side
of Oak Brook Road (31st Street) approximately 2,500 feet west NO
of York Road?
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Oak Brook
hereby declare that it is in the best interest of the citizens of the Village
of Oak Brook to cause an advisory referendum to be placed on the ballot at the
General Election, November 5, 1996;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows:
Section 1: That the foregoing recitals are hereby incorporated by
reference as if fully set forth herein.
Section 2: That the following public question shall be submitted to the
electors of the Village of Oak Brook at the General Election on November 5,
1996:

Section 3: That the question referred to and set forth herein shall be
submitted to the voters of the Village of Oak Brook in accordance with the
general election law of the State of Illinois at the General Election to be
held on Tuesday, the 5th day of November, 1996.
Section 4: That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after passage and approval pursuant to law.
Section 5: Copies of this ordinance shall be transmitted to the Cook
County Election Authority and the DuPage County Election Authority.
