AGENDA ITEM
Regular Board of Trustees Meeting
of
August 23, 2005
SUBJECT: Surplus Property
FROM: Rania Serences, Purchasing Clerk
BUDGET SOURCE/BUDGET IMPACT: N/A
RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move that the Village Board adopt the attached ordinance
authorizing the donation and sale of surplus computer equipment.
Background/History:
The attached ordinance lists various items that have reached the end of their useful life, or have
been replaced by newer models.
The Village periodically disposes of older computer equipment for various reasons (all items still
function). The PC's listed were purchased between 1996-1999, have slow processors, small hard
drives and memory, and will not run our standard Windows 2000 or XP operating system and
Office Suite. The 15" monitors are surplus due to their small size (we standardized on 17" a few
years ago to accommodate the viewing space required for current software) and the 17" monitor
has a dark display. The printers are older models that have been replaced by better department-
wide network printers.
This equipment will be disposed of by first advertising for bids. If no bids are received, items
will be offered to schools and not-for-profit agencies. Any remaining items will be disposed of.
Recommendation:
Staff recommends that the Village Board adopt the attached ordinance authorizing the donation
and sale of surplus computer items.
