Martens, Village Attorney SUBJECT: Prevailing.Wage Ordinance RECOMMENDATION: That the Village Board pass the attached ordinance i Pursuant to the previsions of the so-called Prevailing Wage Act, the State requires that each ,dune the Village pass an ordinance ascertaining the prevailing rate of wages for various trades i employed in performing construction on public works within the Village. The Illinois Department of tabor has released statistics relative to such prevailing wage rates for DuPage and Gook Counties. Attached is an ordinance which adopts these mandated wage rates. 1 understane' you will consider this matter at your June 9, 1998 meeting. Respectfully submitted, Richard A. The Illinois i Department of Labor has released statistics relative to such prevailing wages rates for DuPage and Cook Counties. The ordinance adopts these mandated wage rates. I Trustee McInerney spoke of this unfunded mandate from the State of Illinois and of the legislation that governs the prevailing wage restrictions placed on municipalities like Oak Brook as one that needs to be repealed. Trustee Kenny suggested, and it was a consensus of the Board of Trustees,that a letter of protest be written from the Village of Oak Brook with the signatures of all Trustees. Motion by Trustee Shumate,seconded by Trustee Kenny, to pass Ordinance 98-PW-WPA-El-S-902, "An Ordinance Ascertaining The Prevailing Rate Of Wag es For Laborers, Workers And Mechanics Employed In Public Works In The Village Of Oak Brook,Du Page And Cook Counties,Illinois",as presented and waive the full reading thereof.
