RESOLUTION OF COMMENDATION

WHEREAS, Officer R, S. Kempf, a member of the Oak-
brook Police Department, was requested by the Hinsdale Police
Department on February 5, 1967, to assist them in the apprehension
of a dangerous person who, while armed, was driving a motor vehicle
on Washington Street south of Ogden Avenue; and
WHEREASs in response to the call Officer Kempf proceeded
south on Washington Street and effectively blocked the progress of
the fleeing automobile; and
WHEREAS, the subject was armed with a shotgun and
threatened the life of Officer Kempf; and
WHEREAS, Officer Kempf at great personal risk to him-
self got out of the equkd, car and by the use of the spotlight
sufficiently blinded the subject so as to permit his apprehension;
and
WHEREAS, the conduct of Officer Kempf has brought
credit to the Oakbrook Police Department, the police profession
in general, and exemplifies the kind of conduct that makes the
citizens of Oakbrook appreciative and proud of their police
department; and
WHEREAS, the President and the Board of Trustees of
the Village of Oakbrook are of the opinion that such creditable
service above and beyond the call of duty should not be unrecog-
nized;
NOW, THE MORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and
Board of Trustees of the Village of Oakbrook that the said Officer
R. S. Kempf be and he is hereby commended for bravery and exemplary
conduct above and beyond the call of duty,
BE IT FURTHFA RESOLVED that the President and Board of
Trustees do hereby oxprean their appreciation and tha appreciation
of the citisena of Oakbrook for such extraordinary service,
