A RESOLUTION IN OPPOSITION TO LEGISLATION RELATIVE
TO FREEDOM OF INFORMATION DISCLOSURES OF SETTLEMENT
AGREEMENTS ENTERED INTO BY A PUBLIC BODY
WHEREAS, the General Assembly of the State of Illinois has recently introduced legislation which
would require disclosure through the Freedom of Information Act of settlement agreements entered into by
a public body, and
WHEREAS, the passage of this legislation, entitled House Bill 511, would allow the release of
litigation settlement amounts and severely compromise the ability of the Village of Oak Brook to negotiate
settlements of future litigation, and
WHEREAS, the Village President and Board of Trustees find that the interests of the Village of
Oak Brook would not be best served by passage of House Bill 511.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of
Oak Brook, DuPage and Cook Counties, Illinois, as follows
Section 1 - That the Village President and Board of Trustees for the Village of Oak Brook hereby
