A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF LEGISLATION RELATIVE
TO NON -HOME RULE SALES TAX RATE INCREASE
WHEREAS, the General Assembly of the State of Illinois has recently introduced legislation which
would, through a referendum, increase the amount, not to exceed one percent (1%), a municipality can
collect under the non -home rule municipal sales tax, and
HEREAS, the passage of this legislation, entitled Senate Bill 272, would permit the Village of
Oak Brook, with approval of the voters, to raise revenue for use toward needed infrastructure, and
WHEREAS, the Village President and Board of Trustees find that the interests of the Village of
Oak Brook would be best served by passage of Senate Bill 272
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of
Oak Brook, DuPage and Cook Counties, Illinois, as follows
Section 1 That the Village President and Board of Trustees for the Village of Oak Brook hereby
express their collective support for the passage of Senate Bill 272 proposed by the General Assembly of
the State of Illinois providing for an increase in the amount a municipality can collect under the non -home
rule municipal sales tax
Section 2 All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this resolution are hereby repealed
to the extent of the conflict
Section 3 This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval
and publication as required by law
