WHEREAS, It has come to the attention of the mayors of the
NState of Illinois that a program to inform the general public concerning
the low levels of immunization against rubella, polio and measles is
being conducted in the month of October, 1973, by the Illinois Department
of Public Health; and
WHEREAS, To control and eradicate these diseases, it is
necessary that the public be made aware of, and encouraged to support,
Programs designed to combat rubella, polio and measles; and
WHEREAS, The immunization levels of pre - school children are
sufficiently low to cause public health officials grave concern over
the threat of possible outbreaks; and
WHEREAS, The tragedy of polio and measles is that they strike
email children, often resulting in crippling, blindness, deafness,
mental retardation and other irreparable damage; and
WHEREAS, Rubella, when transmitted from children to expectant
mothers can harm the Imborn children and cause a variety of .birth
defects; and
WHEREAS, All these diseases can be prevented through proper
immunizations for Illinois children; now, therefore, be it
PROCLAIMED, That the month of October, 1973, is "Immunization
Action Month" in the Village of oak Brook, State of Illinois; and be
it further
PROCLAIMED, That the parents and guardians of the children
of the Village of Oak Brook are urged to observe "Immunization Action
Month" by checking their children's immunization records and obtaining,
from the family physician or local health department, the immunizations
necessary to insure complete protection against rubella, polio and
measles.
