A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE IMPROVEMENT OF
O'HARE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
\( HEREAS, the Village President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Oak Brook, DL Page and
Cook Counties, Illinois, find that O'Hare International Airport is a vital hub in the national air transportation
system of the United States, and that O'Hare International Airport's ability to efficiently process takeoffs,
landings and passenger needs impacts the quality of air transportation throughout the United States, and
WHEREAS, the Village President and Board of Trustees further find that O'Hare International
Airport has had a profound and positive effect on the economic success and vitality of the Northeastern
Illinois Region by creating fobs related both directly and indirectly to airport operations and by attracting
innumer ble businesses to the Northeastern Illinois Region, and thereby promoting economic prosperity
for the region, and
WHEREAS, the Village President and Board of Trustees further find that O'Hare International
Airport's continued, long -term ability to perform its vital transportation function and to meet future demand
for air transportation services is indispensable to the Airport's survival and to the econoic pro
m sperity of
the Northeastern Illinois Region, and
WHEREAS, the Village President and Board of Trustees further find that the Village of Oak Brook
shares substantially in the economic benefits created by O'Hare International Airport, and I that it is
therefore fitting and proper that the President and Board of Trustees take an active interest in and express
their collective voice concerning the future of O'Hare International Airport; and
WHEREAS, the Village President and Board of Trustees further find that the Mayor of the City of
Chicago and the Governor of the State of Illinois have engaged in and have now concluded discussions
concerns g the future of O'Hare International Airport and the improvements to the Airport that may be
needed to ensure its ability to reliably and safely handle the volume of air traffic it needs to serve, both
now and in the future, and that these discussions have resulted in agreement concerning same being
reached between the Governor and the Mayor, and that said agreement will now likely be the subject of
legislation considered by the Congress of the United States in order to provide for such improvements to
O'Hare International Airport, and
WHEREAS the Village President and Board of Trustees further find that the interests of the
Village of Oak Brook and of this region would be best served by adoption of said plan for improvement of
O'Hare International Airport, which will permit it to safely and efficiently serve the flying public and satisfy
current and future demands for air transportation,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of they Village of
Oak Brook, DuPage and Cook Counties, Illinois, as follows
Section 1 That the Village President and Board of Trustees for the Village of Oak Brook hereby
express their collective support for the passage of legislation by the Congress of the United States
providing for implementation of the plan of improvement for O'Hare International Airport agreed between
the Governor of the State of Illinois and the Mayor of the City of Chicago, which will enable O'Hare
International Airport to meet its current and anticipated future air transportation needs, and urge the
members of the House of Representatives and the Senate of the Congress of the United States to work
collectively and cooperatively towards this end, and thereby preserve the economic prosperity of 'the
