RECOMMENDED MOTION: That the Village Board approve Resolution R -1049, A
Resolution Establishing a Citizen Financial Advisory Committee.
Background/History:
At the June 9, 2009 Board meeting, the Village Board approved the creation of a Financial
Advisory Committee.
The Committee is to be comprised of five (5) residents, who possess financial and business
management experience, with terms to begin with the passage of this Resolution and expiring at
the discretion of the current Village President or until the dissolution of the Committee.
Additionally, the Committee will report directly to the Trustee- Liaison for the Finance
Department and will be assisted by the Village Manager and the Finance Director.
The first formal meeting of the Citizen Financial Advisory Committee will be held in July and on
an as- needed basis to assist Village staff in developing ideas concerning the budget. The role of
the Committee is for advisory purposes only and all decisions regarding the budget will be made
by the Village Board.
Recommendation:
That the Village Board approve this Resolution.

RESOLUTION 2009 -BD- FIN -R -1049
A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A CITIZEN FINANCIAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE
WHEREAS, certain economic trends have affected the budget and operations of the Village of
Oak Brook, and
WHEREAS, the corporate authorities of the Village of Oak Brook find that it is in the Village's best
interest that there be formed a Citizen Financial Advisory Committee.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF
TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS,
as follows-
Section 1: That there is hereby created a Citizen Financial Advisory Committee (Committee) for
the purpose of advising and making budget recommendations to the Village staff and the Village Board
Said Committee shall consist of five (5) members, which will be Oak Brook residents.
Section 2: That the Committee shall have and exercise the following powers and duties*
(a) To discuss and formulate budgetary recommendations which shall be provided to the
Village Board on a regular basis.
(b) To report directly to the Trustee - Liaison for the Finance Department.
Section 3: That the Committee will serve in an advisory capacity only.
Section 4: That members of the Committee will serve at the discretion of the current Village
President or until the Committee is dissolved.
