Purchasing Director Kapff recommended the Village waive the
bidding process and purchase the Gateway PC systems due to the
following:
I. A competitive selection process has already been conducted by
PTIACMA, with the express purpose of relieving individual
municipalities from having to competitively bid/RFP the purchase
of PC systems;
2. The Gateway pricing is significantly better than pricing obtained
through the PTI/ICMA RFP-negotiated Compaq price; and
3. The Village's research shows that Gateway systems include high-
quality non-proprietary components which will be easier to
maintain and upgrade in the long-term. Their price also includes
3-years of on-site maintenance.
