AGENDA ITEM
Regular Board of Trustees Meeting
of
September 14, 2010
SUBJECT: Special Event Liquor License Surcharge
FROM: John W. Craig, Village President
BUDGET SOURCE/BUDGET IMPACT: N/A
RECOMMENDED MOTION: Motion to approve Ordinance G -932, and ordinance
establishing a surcharge for Class F Licenses and amending sections 4 -1 -8A and 4- 1 -17D3
of the Village Code of the Village of Oak Brook.
Backeround/History:
The Village receives several requests for special event liquor licenses throughout the year.
Applicants currently pay a fee of $100.00 to host up to 10 events during the course of one year,
($10.00 per event). I am proposing a fee of $50.00 per special event with a cap of $500.00 per
company. Any applicant who exceeds the 10 events, then would reapply for another special
event liquor license.
According to our Village Code, applicants must apply no less than 10 -days prior to their event.
In many cases this is not happening and on several occasions applicants are coming in at the last
minute or event the day of the event to obtain their permit. I am proposing a $50.00 surcharge as
a way of encouraging the applicants to apply for their special event liquor license in a timely
manner and according to Code.
Recommendation:
To approve Ordinance 0-932, and ordinance establishing a surcharge for Class F Licenses and
amending seciton 4 -1 -8A and 4- 1 -17D3 of the Village Code of the Village of Oak Brook.
