The child had gone beyond the safety barrier and quickly went under, never resurfacing. i The quick, alert and professional response of our Christine Smith saved this little one's life. Many parents who were eyewitness to this occurrence expressed relief and gratitude for the well-trained staff. In particular, Tom Ruesdon asked me to make sure that the Board be made aware of what in his observance was a tragedy averted. Christine Smith is starting her third, year at the B&T. She will serve as the principal swim coach this year for our team. She's had extensive continuous training in life-saving and CPR with proper certification aiul is a junior at the University of Kansas. •Page 1 L: E.
