RESOLUTION 99-BD-AFC-R-720
A RESOLUTION CHANGING THE NAME AND ESTABLISHING AN AD HOC COMMITTEE
FOR THE PURPOSE OF PLANNING AND COORDINATING

THE 1999 OAK BROOK AUTUMN FESTIVAL
WHEREAS,one of Oak Brook's great strengths is the ethnic and cultural diversity of its citizens;
and,
WHEREAS,from 1993 to 1995, the Butler Elementary School District 53 and its PTA
organizations have recognized Oak Brook's diversity by sponsoring an annual"Ethnic Fesr each Spring,
offering District 53 students and their families the opportunity to experience the food,art, music and dance
of some of the many cultures represented in Oak Brook;and
WHEREAS,the organizers of the District 53 Ethnic Fest concluded that the event had grown to
the limits of the District's facilities and that it had the potential to continue to grow into a significant
community event for Oak Brook; and
WHEREAS, officials of District 53 and its PTA organizations suggested that the Village consider
hosting and co-sponsoring,with other governmental units, an Oak Brook International Ethnic Fest,which it
has done in 1996, 1997 and 1998;and
WHEREAS,the Village Board has concurred with the 1999 Ethnic Fest Committee's
recommendation that the name of the Ethnic Fest be changed to"Oak Brook Autumn Festival'to attract a
broader audience, and has set September 18 and 19, 1999 ae the dates for this function; and
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows:
Section 1: That the name,"Oak Brook Ethnic Fest" be changed to"Oak Brook Autumn Festival'
and
Section 2: That there is hereby created an ad hoc committee for the purpose of planning and
coordinating the 1999 Oak Brook Autumn Festival. Said committee shall be known as the'1999 Autumn
Festival Committee"and shall consist of fifteen(15)members appointed by the Village President,with the
consent of the Village Trustees. The Committee shall be composed of:
(a) A Trustee of the Village of Oak Brook,who shall serve as Chairman_
(b) A representative of the Oak Brook Civic Association.
(c) A representative of the Butler School PTA.
(d) A representative of the Brook Forest School PTA.
j (e) A representative of the Oak Brook Women's Club.
(f) An Oak Brook resident who resides in Downers Grove School Districts 58 and 99.
(g) An Oak Brook resident who resides in Elmhurst Unit School District 205.

(h) An Oak Brook resident who resides in of Salt Creek School District 48 and Willowbrook
High School District 88.
(i) Seven Oak Brook residents at large.
Secti n,' That the Committee shall have and exercise the following powers and duties:
(a) To p!an,coordinate,publicize,and execute the 1999 Oak Brook Autumn Festival.
(b) To encourage the widest possible participation in the Autumn Festival by residents,clubs,
organizations,institutions and businesses within the Village.
(c) To report regularly to the Village Board on its progress and the status of its efforts.
(d) To prepare a comprehensive budget for the Autumn Festival,which budget shall be
subject to the approval of the Village Board.
(e) To evaluate the success of the Autumn Festival and to make recommendations
concerning future events.
(t) To form such subcommittees of its members as the Committee deems necessary and
desirable for the efficient and timely conduct of its business,and to assign to such
subcommittees any function or�ower provided herein.
Section : That any expenditures of public funds in connection with the Autumn Festival shall be
subject to the policies and procedures of the Village,in accordance with applicable law.
PASSED AND APPROVED this 4th day of March, 1999 by the President and Board of
Trustees of the Village of Oak Brook,DuPage and Cook Counties, Illinois,according to a roll call vote as
follows:
Ayes: Trustees Bartecki, McInerney, Savino and Shumate
