CALL TO ORDER:
The Regular Meeting of the Oak Brook Hotel, Convention & Visitors Committee of the Village
of Oak Brook was held in the West Wing Training Room of the Butler Government Center and
called to order by Chairman Norm Canfield at 10:05 a.m.
Chairman Norm Canfield had everyone introduce themselves.
PRESENT: Norm Canfield, Tony Marco,Mort Kouklan, Simon Fricker and Tracy Mulqueen.
ABSENT: Chuck Fleming,Dr. Abbasy, Marty Schooley and Chris Johnson.
IN ATTENDANCE: Donna Bettin, Executive Assistant, Trustees Don Adler and Mark Moy,
Beth Marchetti, DuPage Convention and Visitors Bureau, Rob Grusin and Neil
Flanders, Point B Communications, Jim Pehta and Bev Taylor, Polo Committee.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A. September 18,2014 Special Meeting -A motion was made by M. Kouklan, seconded by T.
Marco,to approve the September 18, 2014 Special meeting minutes of the Hotel Committee.
Voice vote. Motion approved.
B. October 30, 2014 Special Meeting- A motion was made by M. Kouklan, seconded by T.
Marco,to approve the October 30,2014 Special meeting minutes of the Hotel Committee.
Voice vote. Motion approved.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
A. Ratification of Release of Funds to the DuPage Convention and Visitors Bureau- 2014 Third
Quarter Hotel Tax Receipts - $18,856.83. A motion was made by M. Kouklan, seconded by
T. Mulqueen,to approve the release of funds to the DuPage Convention and Visitors Bureau
for the third quarter Hotel Tax receipts in the amount of$18,856.83. Voice Vote. Motion
approved.
B. Ratification of Release of Funds to the DuPage Convention and Visitors Bureau-2014 Fourth
Quarter Hotel Tax Receipts -$19,800.04. A motion was made by M. Kouklan, seconded by
T. Mulqueen,to approve the release of funds to the DuPage Convention and Visitors Bureau
for the fourth quarter Hotel Tax receipts in the amount of$19,800.04. Voice Vote. Motion
approved.
C. Ratification of Release of Funds to the DuPage Convention and Visitors Bureau—2015 First
Quarter Hotel Tax Receipts-$13,666.98. A motion was made by M. Kouklan, seconded by
T. Mulqueen,to approve the release of funds to the DuPage Convention and Visitors Bureau
for the first quarter Hotel Tax receipts in the amount of$13,666.98. Voice Vote. Motion
approved.
D. 2015 Marketing Plan Update—Rob Grusin displayed a power point presentation. IIe
explained the biggest marketing initiative are the summer campaigns. Marketing will be done
on billboards,Metra cards, Chicago Parent/Going Places Eblast and the Village newsletter.
NEW BUSINESS
A. 2015 Polo—Jim Pehta gave a brief history of the polo program and what the Polo

Committees thoughts are with the future direction of the polo program. He continued to
explain that they have developed a partnership with the USPA that will also assist in
marketing Oak Brook Polo. Bev Taylor discussed all of the polo theme dates for 2015. The
Polo Committee would like to see Hotel weekend packages offered that would include
tickets to a Polo match. Also, the Committee would like to have a team come from another
country to play. This would bring in people from all over to watch polo. Mr. Pehta also
asked if the Hotels would be kind enough to place copies of the SCORE magazine in all of
their hotel rooms to help advertise the sport of Polo in Oak Brook. Discussion ensued.
DU PAGE CONVENTION AND VISITORS BUREAU UPDATE
Beth Marchetti reported that the DCVB is making plans for the USBC bowling tournament
coming in July. This event will be televised and the network is requesting video clips of scenery
from the area. As of today, 5500 rooms have been booked and the numbers will continue to grow.
Beth explained that the Governor has swept away(tourism)grant funds from the DCVB that is
currently used to solicit events to come to DuPage. She also discussed pending bills in legislation
and what it means to the Hotels and the occupancy tax.
Beth also explained all the current marketing efforts the DCVB continues to work on as well as
the recent meeting planners FAM that had approximately 25 planners in attendance.
OTHER BUSINESS
Donna Bettin explained that the Village just held the installation of the newly elected and
reelected Village officials. Discussion ensued regarding the Drake Hotel.

Motion by Norm Canfield, seconded by Mort Kouklan to adjourn the meeting of the Hotel
Convention and Visitors Committee at 10:45 am.
