HOTEL, CONVENTION AND VISITORS COMMITTEE OF THE
VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK UNOFFICIAL UNTIL APPROVED AS
WRITTEN OR AMENDED ON MAY 13, 2010.
CALL TO ORDER:
The regular meeting of the Oak Brook Hotel, Convention & Visitors Committee of the Village of
Oak Brook was held in the Upper Level Conference Room of the Butler Government Center and
called to order by Executive Secretary Donna Bettin at 10:06 a.m.
In the absence of Chairman Heigl, Donna Bettin requested a motion for a temporary chair for this
meeting. J. Lampa motioned, seconded by N. Canfield, for Keith Hess to act as temporary
chairman for this meeting. VOICE VOITE. Motion carried.
ROLL CALL:
Acting Chairman Hess called the roll with the following persons:
PRESENT: Chuck Fleming, Norman Canfield, John Lampa and Richard Allison
ABSENT: Dieter Heigl, Gail Long, Linda Hunt and Tracy Mulqueen
IN ATTENDANCE: David Niemeyer, Village Manager, Donna Bettin, Village Executive
Secretary, Skip Strittmatter, DuPage Convention & Visitors Bureau, and Krystal
Glispie, Hyatt Lodge.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A. January 14, 2010 Regular Meeting. R. Allison motioned to approve the January 14, 2010
regular meeting minutes as amended. C. Fleming seconded. VOICE VOTE. Motion
carried.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
A. Marketing Update. Krystal Glispie discussed the 1St quarter marketing results that were just
received. It appears to be what the committee was looking for regarding exposure from the
different campaigns. She continued to explain the results of the various marketing efforts for the
different campaigns. Hotels has also seen some bookings activity from the marketing efforts.
Looking ahead at the summer months, for the leisure market they are looking to have a "Girls
Weekend Getaway" package for the first half of the summer and the second half of the summer
they will be partnering with the Brookfield Zoo once again.
NEW BUSINESS
Acting Chairman Hess reported that Gibson's are a little bit ahead of schedule in their
construction. The restaurant Hospitality Alliance had a good meeting recently and reported some
encouraging February and beginning March numbers.
DUPAGE CONVENTION AND VISITORS BUREAU. Skip Strittmatter showed the
Committee all of the marketing materials they currently have out. With their current budget
restraints they have been focusing more of their initiates on meetings. They currently have 8,000
meeting planners in their data base that continually receive all marketing information and e-mail
blasts on a regular basis. Arrowhead; they did secure corporate sponsorships, moving towards
that "Fam & Focus" initiative on April 14th through the 18th. They will be touring the Arrowhead
group throughout the area; two Oak Brook Hotels will be featured. Skip continued to list all of
DCVB upcoming events. Their One Magnificent Day will be moved to June or July this year.
Skip was happy to report that the DCVB was featured in Illinois Meetings and Events
publication as the best Convention and Visitors Bureau in the state outside of Chicago. Also in

the Business Ledger they are being honored as Economic Development and Best Business in the
area. They will be having some great incentives coming up for the spring/summer packages.
GREATER OAK BROOK CHAMBER OF COMMERCE. R. Allison reported that the recent
meeting held at Drury Lane was well attending. Manager Niemeyer reported that Rasmussen
College will be locating to Oak Brook in the Regency Towers. ITT is looking at space in the 800
Building in the fall. Jason's Deli just opened, LA Fitness opening shortly, Gibsons to open in the
spring. The Financial Officer from Redbox was the key note speaker. Both Manager Niemeyer
and Krysal Glispie received recognition awards. K. Glispie reported that the Chamber's Rapid
Response Team has been putting together a video to promote businesses to come to Oak Brook.
OTHER BUSINESS. C. Fleming reported that the Oakbrook Center had begun to see an uptick
in sales around the middle of the Holiday season and has continued through January and
February. Fortunately, occupancy remains over 95% but the tenants are feeling the affects of the
economy.

Motion by N. Canfield, seconded by J. Lampa to adjourn the Regular Meeting of the Hotel
Convention and Visitors Committee at 10:50 a.m.'
