HOTEL, CONVENTION AND VISITORS COMMITTEE OF THE
VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK APPROVED AS WRITTEN ON AUGUST 11,
2011.
CALL TO ORDER:
The regular meeting of the Oak Brook Hotel, Convention & Visitors Committee of the Village of
Oak Brook was held in the Upper Level Conference Room of the Butler Government Center and
called to order by Village Manager David Niemeyer at 10:08 a.m.
ROLL CALL:
Manager Niemeyer called the roll with the following persons:
PRESENT: Chuck Fleming, Norman Canfield, Richard Allison, Gail Long and Tracy
Mulqueen.
ABSENT: Martin Schooley, Keith Hess, John Lampa and Linda Hunt
IN ATTENDANCE: David Niemeyer, Village Manager, Skip Strittmatter, DuPage Convention &
Visitors Bureau, and Cindy Resnick and Jason Kallan, Point B Communications.
The Committee agreed to have Norm Canfield act as Chairman for this meeting.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A. September 9, 2010 Meeting. G. Long motioned to approve the September 9, 2010 meeting
minutes. R. Allison seconded. VOICE VOTE. Motion carried.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
A. 2011 Marketing Campaign Program Update. Point B distributed a 2011 year -to -date review
and analysis of the 2011 marketing campaign. They discussed a recap of the first half of the year
(Valentine's Day campaign). They continued to review the group marketing and the marketing
plan for the remainder of 2011.
NEW BUSINESS
A. Election of Committee Chairman — Discussion was held on the election of a permanent
committee chair for the balance of this year. C. Fleming motioned to have Norm Canfield serve
as Hotel Convention and Visitors Committee Chairman for 2011. T. Mulqueen seconded.
VOICE VOTE. Motion carried.
B. Ratification of Release of Funds to the DuPage Convention and Visitors
Bureau - 2010 Third Quarter Hotel Tax Receipts - $16,319.57. C. Fleming motioned. R. Allison
second. VOICE VOTE. Motion carried.
C. Ratification of Release of Funds to the DuPage Convention and Visitors Bureau— 2010
Fourth Quarter Hotel Tax Receipts - $17,282.95. G. Long motioned, T. Mulqueen seconded.
VOICE VOTE. Motion carried.
D. Ratification of Release of Funds to the DuPage Convention and Visitors Bureay — 2011 First
Quarter Hotel Tax Receipts - $11,415.78. C Fleming motioned, R. Allison seconded. VOICE
VOTE. Motion carried.
E. Ratification and Change to meeting dates for year 2011. Manager Niemeyer discussed the
proposed meeting schedule for the Hotel Committee and the reasoning behind this change. After
discussion, the Committee determined that the meetings will be held at 10:00 AM on the second

Thursday of August, October, January and April.
F. Update from Bridgepoint Website Administration. No update from Bridgepoint available.
G. Beautification Grant and Timetable. Manager Niemeyer explained that this refers to the
$560,000 grant we received for Spring Road to Salt Creek. The matching funds are coming from
the 2% Hotel/Motel Tax funds, approximately $140,000. A lot of the delay has come from
IDOT. It appears the project may get pushed to 2012.
DUPAGE CONVENTION AND VISITORS BUREAU. Skip Strittmatter reported they secured
the test market for 2 interstates signs 10 years ago. The State is still working to get that moving
forward. It has finally been released, so the DCVB looks forward to getting that going. There is
some movement on the Tollway for the same market signage. DCVB will keep Committee and
municipalities informed. Discussion ensued.
Norm Canfield left the meeting. The Committee no longer has a quorum.
Skip Strittmatter also mentioned the legislative bills that currently affect the tourism budget.
Skip continued to review their marketing efforts to date and informed the Committee of up
coming efforts /events. She distributed their latest brochure which can also be found on -line.
GREATER OAK BROOK CHAMBER OF COMMERCE. Tracy Mulqueen reported that the
Chamber is submitting a Comprehensive report the first week in June to the Village along with
presenting a formal report to the Economic Development Council. The Chamber will be sure to
share this information with the Hotel Committee at the same time they share it with the Village.
