Meeting was called to order at 2:02 p.m.
APPROVAL OF MAY 2, 2002 MEETING MINUTES
Moved by Ralph Maxson and seconded by Steve Thayer to approve the minutes
of the May 2, 2002 meeting as submitted. Motion passed 5 -0.
OLD BUSINESS:
Review of 2002 Marketing Campaign: Beth Brophy from Creative
Marketing indicated that she has taken over the account from Kristie Sup,
and provided an update on the status of the 2002 campaign. She indicated
that the group mail project has been successful with a 6% response rate (1-
2% is considered successful in the industry). Also implemented since the
last update were an e-mail blast to meeting planners, follow -up letters with
groups, and a fulfillment piece sent to leisure travelers requesting
information.
NEW BUSINESS:
A. Release of Second Quarter Tax Receipts to DCVB: Motion by Ralph
Maxson, seconded by Laurie Adams to recommend that the Village Board
release 20% of the 2nd Quarter 2002 tax receipts to the DuPage
Convention and Visitors Bureau. Motion passed 5 -0.

B. 2003 Budget: Chairman Merrill indicated that at this point in time,
receipts are approximately $31,000 less than at the same time last year.
Acting Village Manager Crotty indicated that the 2003 budget for the
marketing campaign will not be affected since there is a significant fund
balance in the Hotel Tax Fund.
The Committee discussed the relationship with Creative Marketing, and
indicated that at this point, the Committee is pleased with the work and
desire to continue working with the agency for the 2003 campaign.
Motion by Laurie Adams, seconded by Ted Selogie to recommend that the
Village Board authorize staff to negotiate a contract with Creative
Marketing for the development and implementation of the 2003 Marketing
Campaign. Motion passed 5 -0.
C. Committee Structure Changes: Acting Village Manager Crotty informed
the Committee that an amendment to the ordinance outlining the structure
of the Committee was going to be considered by the Village Board. The
amendment is necessary to accommodate two new members, one from
McDonald's Lodge and the other from the Residence Inn.
OTHER BUSINESS: Chairman Merrill asked the Committee to consider nominations or
volunteers to serve as the Chairman of the Hotel, Convention and Visitors Committee,
noting that he originally accepted his appointment for a period of one year.

Moved by Ralph Maxson and seconded by Steve Thayer to adjourn the meeting at
2:49 p.m. Motion passed 5 -0.
