Minutes - 01/15/2008 - Library Commission2. 3 4 MINUTES OF THE JANUARY 15, 2008 REGULAR MEETING OF THE LIBRARY COMMISSION OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK APPROVED AS WRITTEN ON MARCH 18, 2008. CALL TO ORDER: CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting of the Library Commission was called to order by Commission Chairperson Salazar in the Library Meeting Room at 7:05 p.m. R nr r CAT r r - ROLL CALL Chairperson Salazar called the roll with the following persons PRESENT: Commission Chairperson Melissa Salazar, Commissioners Madeline Bell, Randa Bishlawi, William Duff, Veena Mendiratta, Janice Skowron and Lucia Sutton ABSENT: None IN ATTENDANCE: Meg Klinkow Hartmann, Library Director and Michelle Coduto, Office Coordinator APPROVAL OF MINUTES: MINUTES LIBRARY COMMISSION MEETING —NOVEMBER 20, 2007 Motion by Chairperson Salazar and seconded by Commissioner Skowron to approve the minutes of the regular Library Commission Meeting of November 20, 2007 as written. UNFINISHED BUSINESS UNFINISHED BUSINESS A. MIGRATION UPDATE: MIGRATION Director Klinkow Hartmann informed the Commission that the Migration is continuing on schedule and staff continues to train online and in- person to prepare for the new systern. The expected "go live" date for the new system is April 17, 2008. B. 50 YEAR CELEBRATION: so YEAR CELEBRATION Director Klinkow Hartmann announced that Oak Brook resident Conrad Truedson will be taking the photos for the Library's 50 Year Celebration photo display chronicling the business community of Oak Brook. Klinkow Hartmann also announced that another Oak Brook resident, Jeff Franklin, has offered to create a photo exhibit of Library programs and the Library building and exterior to be displayed in the rotunda if he can find funding. Another upcoming exhibit will be the Museum Bus featuring an exhibit on the Midwest POWs of World War II. The Bus will be here Monday, June 9"' from 5 to 8 pm. C. GARDEN /LANDSCAPING UPDATE: GARDEN Director Klinkow Hartmann informed the Commission that she was still awaiting the updated drawings from the landscape designer. VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK Minutes Page 1 of 2 January 15, 2008 [1" D. WIFI UPDATE: Comcast has begun installing the cable to provide the Library with Wifi. Room has been left to install fiber optics at a later time. Comcast has donated the cabling and the labor to the Library. NEW BUSINESS A. CHAIRPERSON'S REPORT: Chairperson Salazar thanked Foundation member Barbara Benezra for her work to properly dissolve the Foundation. Benezra has done the Library a great service. B. DIRECTOR'S REPORT: Director Klinkow Hartmann informed the Commission that a review of the Special Acquisitions Policy would be on the next agenda. Klinkow Hartman reviewed her Fourth Quarter Report and the 2007 statistics with the Commissioners. WIFI NEW BUSINESS CHAIR REPORT DIRECTOR REPORT Commissioner Skowron reviewed the program she attended with Klinkow Hartmann and Sue Madorin on libraries "going green." C. OTHER NEW BUSINESS: OTHER NEW BUSINESS There was no additional new business. 8. ADJOURNMENT: ADJRN Chairperson Salazar moved to adjourn the meeting at 8:29 p.m. Commissioner Bell seconded the motion.
