1. CALL TO ORDER
The Special Meeting of February 23, 2016 of the Village Board of Trustees Legal
Committee was called to order by Chairman Michael Manzo in the Upper Level
Conference Room of the Butler Government Center at 6:31 p.m.
2. ROLL CALL
Village Clerk Charlotte Pruss called the roll with the following persons:
PRESENT: Trustee Don Adler, Trustee Michael Manzo, Trustee Mark Moy, Trustee
Edward Tiesenga,
ABSENT: Trustee John Baar
President Gopal Lalmalani (arrived at approximately 6:34p p.m.)
Trustee Asif Yusuf (arrived at approximately 6:34 p.m.)
IN ATTENDANCE: Village Manager Rick Ginex, Assistant Village Manager/Finance
Director Sharon Dangles
3. VILLAGE SERVICES – LABOR ATTORNEY
Chairman Manzo made some introductory remarks. Village Manager Ginex stated that the
following firms were sent RFPs last time: Ottosen, Britz; Kelley, Kronenberg; Zukowski,
Rogers, Flood; Klein, Thorpe; Clark, Hill; Clark, Baird, Smith.
Trustee Tiesenga suggested Koehler & Passarelli. Discussion ensued regarding the fire
union contract and having a different law firm handling labor matters from the general
counsel. Trustee Adler suggested Clark, Baird, Smith; Storino, Ramello & Durkin; and
Klein, Thorpe. Village Manager Ginex stated a letter had been prepared to send to these
firms, and it was suggested that the policy regarding outside law firms be attached.
Chairman Manzo suggested interviewing only four firms, all in one night. Trustee
Tiesenga also suggested Littler, Mendelson.
4. ADJOURNMENT
Motion by Trustee Tiesenga, seconded by Trustee Yusuf, to adjourn the Special Meeting
of the Board of Trustees at 6:53 pm. VOICE VOTE: Motion carried.
