Minutes - 01/17/2012 - Library CommissionMINUTES OF THE JANUARY 17, 2012 REGULAR MEETING OF THE LIBRARY COMMISSION OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK APPROVED AS WRITTEN ON MARCH 20, 2012. CALL TO ORDER: CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting of the Library Commission was called to order by Commission Chairperson Petz in the Library Meeting Room at 7:00 p.m. 2. ROLL CALL: ROLL CALL Commission Chairperson Petz called the roll with the following persons PRESENT: Commissioners Herbert Arnquist, Susan Epstein, Jeffry Franklin, Veena Mendiratta, Roberta Petz, Hope Sabbagha and Sandra Wittrock ABSENT: none IN ATTENDANCE: Susan Madorin, Library Director and Michelle Coduto, Office Coodinator 3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: LIBRARY COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING — NOVEMBER 15, 2011 Motion by Commissioner Amquist and seconded by Commissioner Wittrock to approve the minutes of the regular Library Commission Meeting of November 15, 2011 as written. 4. RESIDENT COMMENTS: None 5. UNFINISHED BUSINESS A. PLANNING FOR TEN YEAR LIBRARY CELEBRATION: Chairperson Petz suggested broadening the scope of the celebration to include the 50`h anniversary of the Oak Brook Library Association charter, which was received in 1961. The Commission decided to auction the Lladros at a later date and Commissioner Epstein is going to research an auction house in Addison that has sold Lladros previously. Commissioner Wittrock is working to secure the Butler School band to perform, Petz will contact Tony Ingrisano and Director Madorin will try to schedule the Convertibles as well as a magician, face painter and balloon animal artist. Library staff will create a digital photo slideshow of pictures from the Library's collection. Commissioners Petz and Epstein will purchase the food at Costco, including fruit, cheese, mini cupcakes, a cake and small water bottles. A cafe area will be set up in the Meeting Room. Commissioner Amquist is working with Costco to obtain a contribution. Wittrock will contact Trader Joe's to solicit a gift basket donation. Publicity and invitations were also discussed. B. BUDGET FOR TEN YEAR CELEBRATION: The Friends of the Oak Brook Public Library have donated up to $3000 for the celebration. ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING STATION: CHARGING STATION A charging station for electric vehicles will be installed in the staff area of the Library parking lot. It will cost $6 to charge a vehicle for one hour. This will be provided at no cost to the Village. B. CHAIRPERSON'S REPORT: CHAIR REPORT Chairperson Petz had nothing to report beyond what had been discussed earlier. C. DIRECTOR'S REPORT: DIRECTOR REPORT Director Madorin discussed the year-end report and statistics with the Commission. D. OTHER NEW BUSINESS: OTHER NEW none BUSINESS 7.
