MINUTES OF THE
OAK BROOK LIBRARY COMMISSION
March 14, 1995
The meeting was called to order by Commissioner Bobbie Petz at 6:00 P.M.
Present: Commissioners Bobbie Petz, Barbara Benezra and Bob Leuser and Trustee Jerry
McInerney
Also present Librarian Ruth Martin
New Commissioner Robert H. Leuser was welcomed. Minutes of the January 10, 1995 meeting
were approved as presented.
Old Business:
a Librarian Martin presented a letter to the Commission from Village Manager
Stephen B Veitch regarding status of clarification of Commissioners' responsibilities. Review of
the Village Code, Chapter 2 will take place over the next few months which will address the
Powers and Duties of the Library Commission.
b. Martin reported that applications were being accepted for the Reference and
Adult Services position She expects to be able to interview and hire in the next several weeks
New Business
a. Commissioners discussed the importance of the return of the
Cultural /Recreational Facilities Study survey. Commissioner Petz and Trustee McInerney will
write letters to the Doings expressing the importance of the survey and urging residents to
complete and return them.
b Martin reported on the ADA Project underway in the Library and expressed
dissatisfaction with the progress. Trustee McInerney will comment on this in the Village Board
meeting later this evening
C. The chapter on Users and Usage was reviewed in Avenues to Excellence The
Library is making progress, but still not up to State standards
The Director's Report added information on program activity through the winter and information
regarding future programs and National Library Week plans The remainder was covered in Old
and New Business
The meeting was adjourned at 7.25 p.m.
