Minutes - 03/19/2013 - Library CommissionMINUTES OF THE MARCH 19, 2013 REGULAR MEETING OF THE LIBRARY COMMISSION OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK APPROVED AS WRITTEN ON JULY 16, 2013. 1. CALL TO ORDER: CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting of the Library Commission was called to order by Commission Chairperson Petz in the Library Meeting Room at 7:05 pm. 2. ROLL CALL: ROLL CALL Commission Chairperson Petz called the roll with the following persons PRESENT: Commissioners Anthony DiCanio, Susan Epstein, Jeffry Franklin, Veena Mendiratta, Roberta Petz, and Hope Sabbagha. ABSENT: Commissioner Sandra Wittrock IN ATTENDANCE: Susan Madorin, Library Director, Michelle Coduto, Office Coordinator 3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: LIBRARY COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING — JANUARY 15, 2013 Motion by Commissioner Franklin and seconded by Commissioner Mendiratta to approve the minutes of the regular Library Commission Meeting of January 15, 2013 as written. 4. RESIDENT COMMENTS: None 5. UNFINISHED BUSINESS A. LETTER OF APPRECIATION TO BOARD: Chairperson Petz sent a letter of appreciation to the members of the Village Board and received complimentary responses from a number of the Trustees. 6. NEW BUSINESS A. NON - RESIDENT LIBRARY CARD RESOLUTION: Motion by Commissioner DiCanio and seconded by Commissioner Sabbagha to recommend that the Village Board approve the Non- Resident Library Card Resolution, all in favor, none opposed. B. TERMS OF COMMISSIONERS: Director Madorin announced that the terms of two Commissioners expire in May 2013. Madorin requested that those Commissioners either contact the Village President to request reappointment or officially submit a letter stating that he or she no longer wishes to serve. NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK 2013: Director Madorin described the Library's celebration plans for National Library Week, April 14 -20, 2013. D. CHAIRPERSON'S REPORT: Chairperson Petz informed the Commission that the Friends of the Library purchased two Mac computers for patron use and that they will be purchasing two new book drops to replace the current outdoor book drops. The Friends have also agreed to pay for a number of upcoming Library programs. Petz will send a letter of appreciation to the Friends on behalf of the Commission. E. DIRECTOR'S REPORT: Director Madorin announced that former employee Kevin Beto made a $150 donation to the Library, matched by his current employer, Microsoft. Madorin also discussed the upcoming World Book Night and informed the Commission that the pornography filters on the Library computers have been restored. F.
