COMMISSION ON July 18, 2000
1. MEETING CALL:
The Oak Brook Library Commission meeting of Tuesday, May 16, 2000 was called to order by
Chairperson Roberta Petz in the Upper Level Conference Room of the Village Commons at
7:35 p.m.
PRESENT: Commissioners Roberta Petz and Anthony J. Ingrisano were present; Randa
Bishlawi arrived at 7:50 p.m.
IN ATTENDANCE: Adam Butler, Trustee Liaison, Ruth A. Martin, Library Director,
Michelle M. Coduto, meeting secretary, and Karen Bushy, Village President
2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
The minutes of the March 23, 2000 meeting were approved as amended.
3. ADDITIONS TO THE AGENDA:
None.
4. OLD BUSINESS:
A. LIBRARY FOUNDATION REPORT:
Director Martin announced that the Foundation is deferring the large company
solicitation until the building of the new library begins. Martin also informed the
Commission that the second check from McDonald's will soon be on its way.
B. FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY REPORT:
Commissioner Ingrisano announced the success of the used book sale, which earned
over $3000. Commissioner Petz added that April's Evergreen Concert was also a
success, boasting approximately 145 people in attendance.
C. LIBRARY PROJECT REPORT:
President Bushy discussed the status of the Library project with the Commission.
Bushy left the meeting at 8:45 p.m.
D. STATUS OF COMMISSION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The commission decided to defer action until after the Library construction is
underway.

5. NEW BUSINESS
A. SERVING OUR PUBLIC. CHAPTER 10:
Director Martin discussed Chapter 10, System and ILLINET Membership
Responsibilities. The Library actively meets all the applicable core and supplemental
standards.
6. CHAIRPERSON'S REPORT:
Commissioner Petz thanked the Friends of the Library and the volunteers who worked so hard
at the used book sale.
7. DIRECTOR'S REPORT:
Director Martin added her thanks to the Village staff who assisted before, during, and after the
Friend's used book sale. Martin announced that she is still working to supply reading
materials to the Oak Brook Park District lobby areas. She also previewed both the children's
and adult's summer reading clubs as well as the children's summer programming to begin on
June 1, 2000. She noted that the Library will be closed on June 3, 2000 to repair the damaged
ceiling tiles.
8. ADJOURNMENT:
The meeting was adjourned at 9:15 p.m. by Chairperson Petz.
