MINUTES OF THE MAY 20, 2008 REGULAR MEETING OF
THE LIBRARY COMMISSION OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK
BROOK APPROVED AS WRITTEN ON JULY 15, 2008.
CALL TO ORDER: CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Library Commission was called to order by Commissioner Bell
in the Library Meeting Room at 7:05 p.m.

Commissioner Bell called the roll with the following persons
PRESENT: Commissioners Madeline Bell, William Duff, Veena Mendiratta, Anita
Nayak and Lucia Sutton
ABSENT: Commission Chairperson Janice Skowron, Commissioner Randa Bishlawi
IN ATTENDANCE: Meg Klinkow Hartmann, Library Director and Michelle Coduto,
Office Coordinator
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: MINUTES
LIBRARY COMMISSION MEETING —MARCH 18, 2008
Motion by Commissioner Sutton and seconded -by Commissioner Mendiratta to approve
the minutes of the regular Library Commission Meeting of March 18, 2008 as written.

BUSINESS
A. MIGRATION UPDATE: MIGRATION
Director Klinkow Hartmann informed the Commission that the Library went live with the
new automation system on April 17`x'. She offered to instruct the Commissioners on the
new Catalog after the meeting.

B. MEETING ROOM POLICY REVIEW: POLICY REVIEW
The Commission discussed possible changes to the policy. Approval of the policy was
tabled until the next meeting.

A. CHAIRPERSON'S REPORT:
CHAIR REPORT
In Chairperson Skowron's absence, Commissioner Bell delivered Skowron's Chairperson's
Report. Skowron welcomed Anita Nayak to the Commission and thanked Melissa Salazar
for her years of dedication.
Skowron stated that she attended the 50 Year Celebration Photo Exhibit and was impressed
with both the photographs and the celebration itself.
Skowron informed the Commission that she will be attending a DLS sponsored meeting for
Library Commission Chairs in June.

B. DIRECTOR'S REPORT:
Director Klinkow Hartmann thanked the Commission for their continued support of the
Library.
Klinkow Hartmann informed the Commission that she has completed the Illinois state
report, IPLAR. She also renewed the Library's special event liquor license.
She announced that Sue Madorin received a Community Award from the Girl Scouts for
her work with local troops on programs and badges. The local troop leader has been asked
to present the plaque publicly at a Village Board meeting.
Klinkow Hartmann informed the Commission that the Library is hosting a Bus -eum exhibit
on Midwestern POWs of WWII on June 91h
She stated that the Library is looking into HVAC screening with landscaping but Public
Works discovered that the sunscreen needs repairing and that takes priority.

ADJOURNMENT:
Commissioner Bell moved to adjourn the meeting at 8:05 p.m. Commissioner Duff
seconded the motion.
