CALL TO ORDER: CALL TO ORDER
The special meeting of the Library Commission was called to order by Chairperson
Melissa Salazar in the Library Meeting Room at 7:30 p.m.

Commissioner Salazar called the roll with the following persons

Bishlawi, William Duff, Madeline Bell and Lucia Sutton
ABSENT: Commissioners Janice Skowron and Veena Mendiratta
IN ATTENDANCE: Meg Klinkow, Library Director and Michelle M. Coduto,
Meeting Secretary
3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: MINUTES
SPECIAL LIBRARY COMMISSION MEETING — JULY 19, 2004
Motion by Commissioner Duff seconded by Commissioner Bishlawi to approve
the minutes of the Special Library Commission Meeting — July 19, 2004 as written.

A. DISTRIBUTE AND DISCUSS BRIEFLY CURRENT COMPUTER USE COMP USE POLICY
POLICY FOR UPDATING AT NOVEMBER 2004 MEETING-
Chairperson Salazar told the Commission that the Computer Use Policy would be
reviewed at the November 9, 2004 meeting and asked that the Commissioners
please read through the current policy and be prepared to discuss any changes.
Commissioner Duff informed the Commission that a number of the Library's
online databases can now be accessed from home.

Director Klinkow distributed and reviewed the Library's 2005 Program Objectives.

C CHAIRPERSON'S REPORT:
Chairperson Salazar thanked Director Klinkow for her work on the opening of the
new Library cafe.
D DIRECTOR'S REPORT:
Director Klinkow distributed a written report that included a bookmark giving the
Library Activities and Financial updates that was given out at the opening of the
Page Turner Cafe and a draft of the proposed amendment to the General Policy
clarifying Library User Responsibilities. The Commission briefly discussed the
amendment and gave Klinkow approval to proceed.
Klinkow announced that she has been asked to chair the Advisory Committee for
the Archives of the Cook County Circuit Court of Appeals. She asked the
Commission for their endorsement of this addition to her public service duties.
The Commission gave their endorsement to Klinkow.
ADJOURNMENT:
Commissioner Bishlawi moved to adjourn the meeting at 8.30 p.m. Commissioner
Bell seconded the motion.
