COMMISSION OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK APPROVED AS WRITTEN ON
JANUARY 18, 2011.
CALL TO ORDER: CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Library Commission was called to order by Commission
Chairperson Petz in the Library Meeting Room at 7:00 p.m.
2. ROLL CALL: ROLL CALL
Commission Chairperson Petz called the roll with the following persons
PRESENT: Commissioners William Duff, Veena Mendiratta, Roberta Petz and Hope
Sabbagha
ABSENT: Commissioners Herbert Amquist, Randa Bishlawi and Guatam Patel
IN ATTENDANCE: Susan Madorin, Library Director, Michelle Coduto, Office Coordinator
3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
LIBRARY COMMISSION MEETING —JULY 20, 2010
Motion by Commissioner Mendiratta and seconded by Commissioner Sabbagha to approve
the minutes of the regular Library Commission Meeting of July 20, 2010 as written.
4. RESIDENT COMMENTS:
None
5. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
A. COMPUTER USE POLICY REVIEW:
Director Madorin presented the changes made to the previous draft. Commissioner
Sabbagha moved and Commissioner Mendiratta seconded the motion to recommend the
Computer Use Policy to the Village Board for approval. All voted in favor, none opposed.
6. NEW BUSINESS
A. LIBRARY SURVEY:
Director Madorin suggested the formation of a community group to devise an informal
survey of the Library facilities, resources and services. Commissioners Mendiratta and
Sabbagha volunteered to join the group along with other members of the community. A
notice asking for community volunteers will be placed in the Library newsletter.
B. CHAIRPERSON'S REPORT:
Chairperson Petz informed the Commission of the changes within the Library systems and
announced that the Village Board signed a resolution allowing the Library to join MAGIC as
a separate entity from the DuPage Library System.

C. DIRECTOR'S REPORT:
DIRECTOR REPORT
Director Madorin announced that the Library has hired a new part -time Reference Librarian
Melissa Stroud, who replaces Melissa Kennedy. Madorin also informed the Commission
that she has been working with Commissioner Sabbagha and Village resident Karen Krohn
to publicize the Gift Book Program. Finally, Madorin provided the Commissioners with a
list of the upcoming programs.
F. OTHER NEW BUSINESS: OTHER NEW
BUSINESS
Commissioner Duff asked if the Library was celebrating Veteran's Day. Director Madorin
responded that there were no programs planned, but that Duff is more than welcome to share
any program suggestions. Chairperson Petz suggested a book display in honor of the
holiday.
