MINUTES OF THE NOVEMBER 20, 2007 REGULAR MEETING
OF THE LIBRARY COMMISSION OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK
BROOK APPROVED AS WRITTEN ON JANUARY 15, 2008.
1. CALL TO ORDER CALL TO ORDER
The special meeting of the Library Commission was called to order by Commission
Chairperson Salazar in the Library Meeting Room at 7.10 p.m.

Chairperson Salazar called the roll with the following persons
PRESENT. Commission Chairperson Melissa Salazar, Commissioners Madeline Bell,
Randa Bishlawi, William Duff, Veena Mendiratta and Janice Skowron
ABSENT: Commissioners Lucia Sutton
IN ATTENDANCE: Meg Klinkow Hartmann, Library Director and Michelle Coduto,
Office Coordinator
3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES. MINUTES
LIBRARY COMMISSION MEETING — SEPTEMBER 17, 2007
Motion by Commissioner Bishlawi and seconded by Chairperson Salazar to approve the
minutes of the Special Library Commission Meeting of September 17, 2007 as amended.

BUSINESS
A MIGRATION UPDATE. MIGRATION
Director Klinkow Hartmann informed the Commission that the Migration is continuing on
schedule and staff continues to train and prepare for the new system
B. REVIEW GENERAL POLICY AND COLLECTION MANAGEMENT POLICY. GENERAL AND
COLLECTION
Director Klinkow Hartmann discussed the changes to both policies. Chairperson Salazar MANAGEMENT
moved and Commissioner Skowron seconded the motion to approve the changes to the POLICIES
General Policy. The Commission voted all in favor, none opposed.
Chairperson Salazar moved and Commissioner Bishlawi seconded the motion to approve
the changes to the Collection Management Policy. The Commission voted all in favor,
none opposed
C COMMISSION MEMBER UPDATE: COMMISSION
MEMBER UPDATE
The Village Manager and the Library's Trustee Liaison will soon begin the process of
appointing a Commissioner to replace Chairperson Salazar as well as reappointing those
Commissioners whose terms have expired

A. WIFI UPDATE:
WIFI UPDATE
Director Klinkow Hartmann informed the Commission that work has begun to provide the
Library with WiFi. Comcast has said January 1, 2008 is the earliest completion date.
B CHAIRPERSON'S REPORT: CHAIR REPORT
Chairperson Salazar thanked the Commissioners that attended the Anniversary party and
also thanked Commissioners Bell, Mendiratta and Skowron for putting together the prize
baskets Salazar also reminded the Commission to think of others less fortunate this
holiday season
C. DIRECTOR'S REPORT DIRECTOR REPORT
Director Klinkow Hartmann announced that the Village is hoping to have a Farmers'
Market in the Library's staff parking lot beginning in 2009. Klinkow Hartmann stated that
the Library is awaiting the new outdoor signage that will be placed on the wall near the
north door entrance. She also announced that the Library will be participating in the
Village's 50`x' Anniversary celebration by displaying a photo exhibit. The Patron
Satisfaction Questionnaire is available on the Library's website and Klinkow Hartmann
expressed her pleasure with the results She announced that the Library Foundation is
dissolving and giving any funds to the Friends of the Library Klinkow Hartmann
presented a rough plan for extending the garden to the rear of the Library. Finally,
Klinkow Hartmann informed the Commission that the Library was selected by Library
Journal to have architects present a plan for expansion at a future program taking place at
Chicago Public Library

ADJOURNMENT- ADJRN
Chairperson Salazar moved to adjourn the meeting at 8 50 p.m. Commissioner Bell
seconded the motion.
