AN ORDINANCE REGULATING
�+ ADDITIONAL POLICE AND FIRE
DETAILS AT SPECIAL EVENTS
WITHIN THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK
Whereas , the Police and Fire Departments of the Village are
occasionally asked to provide special additional services for events
held within the Village; and
Whereas , it is the established policy of the Village to provide
police and fire services for those events without charge when the
normal operations of the respective departments will not be adversely
affected; and
Whereas, there are occasional events held within the Village for
which to provide the additional special police and/or fire services
requested would adversely affect the normal operations of the respec-
tive department; and
Whereas , the Village desires to establish a program for providing
the requested special services in those instances which would otherwise
result in disruption of .the orderly operation of the respective
departments; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of
Trustees of the Village of Oak Brook, DuPage County, Illinois , as
follows :
Section 1. Any person, firm, corporation, group, civic organization,
or other entity may request special police or fire services by a written
application to the Chief of the respective department. The Chief of
the department requested, shall review the application and determine
whether or not the requested service can be performed without additional
cost to the Village and without adversely affecting the normal operation
of the department.
Section 2 . If the Chief determines with the concurrence of the
Village Manager that the requested services will disrupt the normal
operation of the department or will result in additional expense to
the Village, the applicant will be informed that a charge will be made
by the Village for the special services .
Section 3. If the applicant agrees to pay-ment of the charge ,
the Chief shall assign one or more men to said special duty not to
exceed 20 hours per week, per man.
Section 4. The charge to the applicant, payable to the Village ,
shall be the rate per hour per man for each hour served on the special
duty as is established by the Chief, with the concurrence of the
Village Manager and as approved from time to time by the Public Safety
Coaunittee .
Section 5 . In the event the special assignment results in the
man or men serving hours in excess of this normal duty period, he shall
be paid by the Village of Oa. Brook the rate established in Section 4 ,
hereof for said excess hours , less the usual deductions for payroll
purposes . At no time will Village employees accept wages for services
directly from the applicant.
