AN ORDINANCE AMENDI.NL G SECTION X, B. 6, e, f AND g AND
SECTION XIV, B, 123 OF ORDINANCE NO. G-60, THE ZONING
_ ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, ILLINOIS
WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of the Village of Oak Brook has
proposed an Amendment to the text of Ordinance No. G-60, the Zoning
Ordinance of the Village of Oak Brook; and
WHEREAS, a public hearing pursuant to the statutorily required
notice was held before the Zoning Board of Appeals of the Village of Oak
Brook on December 2, 1975; and
WHEREAS, the said Zoning Board of Appeals has reported its
findings and recommendations after the said public hearing to the President
and Board of Trustees; and
r WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees deem the passage
_ of this Ordinance to be in the best interest and in furtherance of the general
welfare of the Village of Oak Brook.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and
Board of Trustees of the Village of Oak Brook, DuPage and Cook Counties,
Illinois, that:
SECTION 1: The provisions of the preamble as hereinbefore set forth are
hereby restated herein as though herein fully set forth.
SECTION 2: Ordinance No. G-60, Section X, B, 6, e, f and g is hereby
amended to read as follows:
"e. For a building containing less than 100,000 square feet,
the gross surface area in square feet of all signs for each
building on a lot shall not exceed 100 square feet. For build-
ings in excess of 100,000 square feet, the allowable sign area
permitted shall be computed on a basis of one (1) square foot
of sign area for each 1,000 square feet of gross floor area of
each building on a zoning lot with a maximum sign area not to
exceed 240 square feet. Gross sign area allowed shall be ap-
plied to each building and shall not be cumulative. No sign
shall be erected above the height of the structure, excluding
within that height limitation any penthouse or roof structure
as described in Paragraph K of Section V of this Ordinance
No. G-60, or 35 feet above grade, whichever is less.
"f. One ground sign shall be permitted for each building on a
lot, except that on a corner or through lot, a sign may be erected
along each street frontage. A ground sign may not exceed eight
(8) feet in height; be not closer than ten (10) feet from any lot
-- -------- , line; be not closer than three (3) feet from a driveway or parking
area; and shall have a gross surface area of not more than two-
` thirds of the maximum allowable sign area permitted for any one
building on a lot. This sign area shall be deducted from the-
gross surface area of signs allowed in subsection e, immediately
above either collectively or individually.

"g. Directional signs shall not be included in determining the
- -- �' gross sign area permitted in the ORA Districts."

SECTION 3: Ordinance No. G-60, Section XIV, B, 123 is hereby amended
to read as follows:
"123. Sign, Directional - A sign which primarily directs or
regulates the movement of pedestrians or vehicles. Such
- - - - signs shall not exceed six (6) square feet in gross area nor
shall letters or characters thereon be larger than two (2)
- inches in height."
Definitions 123 through 168 shall be renumbered accordingly.
SECTION 4: All ordinances, rules, and regulations of the Village of Oak
Brook which are in conflict with the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby
repealed to the extent of the conflict.
SECTION 5: If any section, sub-section, sentence; clause, or phrase of this
Ordinance is for any reason held to be invalid, such determination shall not
affect the validity of any remaining portion of this Ordinance.
SECTION 6: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after
its passage and approval as by statute in such case made and provided.
