AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE IX OF APPENDIX D
(Personnel Rules and Regulations)
OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK
WHEREAS, by Ordinance G-363, the Board extended certain group health
insurance benefits to certain retired or disabled employees; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Ordinance G-363 and Section 979(f) of the Illinois
Insurance Code, when continued group health insurance coverage is in effect with
respect to a policeman or fireman on the date of the policeman or fireman' s death
but the retirement period or disability period of the fireman or policeman does
not end with their death, then the deceased policeman or fireman's surviving
spouse upon whose death or remarriage such retirement or disability period will
end, shall be entitled, without further election and upon payment of the required
premimums in accordance with the group policy, to maintain such continued group
insurance coverage in effect until the end of such retirement or disability
period; and
WHEREAS, this Board desires to extend similar benefits to certain
surviving spouses of non-police and fire employees and further wishes to make the
conditions and procedures for electing continued group insurance coverage which
are set forth in Section 979(f) of the Illinois Insurance Code applicable to non-
police and fire employees; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the Village that the Personnel
Rules and Regulations reflect these changes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows:
Section 1: That Subsection (4) of Section 1(A) of Article IX entitled
"General Provision and Prohibitions" of Appendix D, Personnel Rules and
Regulations, of the Code of Ordinances of the Village of Oak Brook is amended to
read as follows:
4) Persons who have ten or more years of continuous full time
employment with the Village of Oak Brook and who are eligible
to receive an IMRF retirement or disability pension may elect
to receive Village group hospitalization insurance for
�- themselves and/or their dependents pursuant to the same
conditions and procedures which are applicable to disabled or
retired firemen who are eligible to receive Village group
hospitalization insurance pursuant to paragraph 979(f) of the
Illinois Insurance Code, provided that the full cost of said
insurance shall be paid by the recipient.
Section 2: All ordinances, rules and regulations of the Village of Oak
Brook which are in conflict with the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 3: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage an approval as provided by law.
