AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 11-4 AND 11-5 OF THE
CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK
WHEREAS, a new Chief of Police has recently been appointed by the
President and Board of Trustees; and
WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has recommended that the number of
authorized Police Lieutenants be increased by one and that the number of
authorized Police Sergeants be decreased by one; and
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees concur in the Chief's
recommendation;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows:
Section l: That Section 11-4 of the Code of Ordinances of the Village
of Oak Brook is amended to read as follows:
Sec. 11-4. Lieutenant.
The office of police lieutenant is hereby created and shall
be limited to two (2) in number unless such number is
otherwise changed by the President and Board of the Village.
Police lieutenants shall be appointed by the Board of Fire
and Police Commissioners of the Village pursuant to the
statutes of the State.
The duties of police lieutenant shall be to give attention
to the affairs of said Village, preserve the peace, order,
safety, cleanliness and to otherwise enforce the Ordinance
of the Village and the orders of the Chief of Police and the
President. The lieutenant shall be subject to the direct
supervision of the Chief of Police and shall at all times be
subject to the Rules and Regulations of the Board of Fire
and Police Commissioners. (Ord. No. G-134, Section 1,

Section-2: --That Section 11-5 of the Code of Ordinances of the Village
of Oak Brook is amended to read as follows:
Sec. 11-5. Sergeant.
The office of police sergeant is hereby created. Police
sergeants shall be limited to eight (8) in number. Police
sergeants shall be appointed by the Board of Fire and Police
Commissioners of the Village pursuant to the statutes of the
State and rules of the Board.
The duties of police sergeant shall be to give attention to
the affairs of the Village, preserve the peace, order,
safety and cleanliness, and to otherwise enforce the
Ordinances of the Village, and the orders of the Police
Chief, any other superior officer, lieutenant and the
Village President.
Police sergeants shall be under the direct supervision of
designated superior officers, and shall at all times be
subject to the Rules and Regulations of the Board of Fire
and Police Commissioners. (Ord. No. G-172, 1-14-75; Ord.

Section 3: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage and approval pursuant to law.
