AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE
OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, ORDINANCE G-60, AS AMENDED,
RELATIVE TO AN EMERGENCY WARNING SIREN SYSTEM
WHEREAS, an application has been filed requesting amendments to sections
of the Zoning Ordinance of the Village of Oak Brook to add public warning
devices; and
WHEREAS, a public hearing on such application was conducted by the
Zoning Board of Appeals on February 4, 1992, pursuant to due and appropriate
legal notice; and
WHEREAS, both the Plan Commission and the Zoning Board of Appeals made
recommendations that the requested text amendments be approved; and
WHEREAS, the Village President and Board of Trustees have reviewed said
recommendations and concur with the same;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows:
. � Section 1: That the provisions of the preamble hereinabove set forth are
hereby adopted as though fully set forth herein.
Section 2: That Section V(L) of the Zoning Ordinance of the Village of
Oak Brook be and is hereby amended to read as follows:
"(L) Public Utilities.
The following public utility uses are permitted in any district:
wires, cables, conduits, vaults, laterals, pipes, mains and
valves, public warning devices, or other similar transmission and
distributing equipment, provided that the installation and
location thereof shall conform with the rules and regulations of
applicable administrative authorities and ordinances of the
Village of Oak Brook. The use of above-the-ground utility
carriers, such as poles, is prohibited except when authorized as a
special or temporary use."
Section 3: That Section VI-A(2) of the Zoning Ordinance of the Village
of Oak Brook be and is hereby amended to read as follows:
11(2) Special uses:
(a) Botanical gardens.
(b) Zoological gardens.
(c) Educational facilities.
(d) Governmental service facilities, including municipal.civic
��. centers, police and fire stations and similar uses.

(e) Tennis and swimming clubs.
(f) Cultural facilities, including libraries, museums, and
similar cultural institutions.
(g) Accessory uses and buildings incidental to and on the same
lot as the principal use.
(h) Public warning devices.
Section 4: That Section VII(C) (2) (f) of the Zoning Ordinance of the
Village of Oak Brook be and is hereby amended to read as follows:
"(f) Public utility, governmental service and transportation uses.
(1) Bus turn-arounds and passenger shelters.
(2) Fire and police stations.
(3) Gas regulator stations.
(4) Electric distribution centers and substations.
(5) Telephone exchanges and transmission buildings and equipment,
and outdoor telephone booths and pedestals.
(6) Sewage and storm water lift stations.
(7) Water filtration plants, wells, pumping stations and
reservoirs.
(8) Public warning devices."
Section 5: That Section X(B) (2) (b) of the Zoning Ordinance of the
Village of Oak Brook be and is hereby amended to read as follows:
"(b) Public utility, governmental service and transportation uses:
(1) Bus turn-arounds and passenger shelters.
(2) Fire and police stations.
(3) Telephone exchanges and transmission buildings and equipment,
and outdoor telephone booths and pedestals.
(4) Sewage and storm water lift stations.
(5) Water filtration plants, sewage treatment plants, wells,
pumping stations and reservoirs.
(6) Post office operated by the United State Government.
(7) Emergency warning system structures."
Section 6: That Section X(E) (2) of the Zoning Ordinance of the Village
of Oak Brook be and is hereby amended to read as follows:
11(2) Special Uses:
(a) Hotel or combination Office and Hotel.

(b) Public utility, governmental service and transportation uses:
(1) Bus turn-arounds and passenger shelters.
(2) Fire and police stations.
(3) Telephone exchanges and transmission buildings and
equipment, and outdoor telephone booths and pedestals.
(4) Sewage and storm water lift stations.
(5) Water filtration plants, wells, pumping stations and
reservoirs.
(6) Emergency warning system structures.
(c) Heliports, not for freight, shall meet all of the standards
as contained in Section X(B) (2) (a) . Additionally, the
operation of said heliport shall meet the performance
standards as contained in Section X(A) (4) (a) , Noise.
(d) Day care center, provided such facility complies with all
licensing requirements of the State of Illinois and maintains
a direct alarm hookup to the Oak Brook Police Department."
Section 7: That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage, approval and publication as required by law.
Section That the Village Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to
publish this ordinance in pamphlet form in the manner provided by law.
