ORDINANCE G-503
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE XIV OF
THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THIS VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK
RELATING TO VILLAGE RECREATIONAL FACILITIES
WHEREAS, the Village President and Board of Trustees have heretofore
adopted rules and regulations for the Sports Core, Oak Brook Golf Club, and
Bath and Tennis Club, codified as Article XIV of Chapter 14 of the Code of
Ordinances of the Village of Oak Brook; and
WHEREAS, the Village President and Board of Trustees deem further
amendment of said rules and regulations to be in the best interest and in
furtherance of the general welfare of the citizens of the Village of Oak
Brook;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows:
Section 1: That the provisions of the preamble hereinabove set forth are
hereby adopted as though fully set forth herein.
Section 2: That Section 14-12(b) (2) of the Code of Ordinances of. the
Village of Oak Brook be and is hereby amended by adding subsection (e) as
follows:
"(e) Resident golf club season members may use the Bath and Tennis
recreation facilities not more than four (4) times a year,
provided that they pay the prevailing guest fee in the Sports Core
office.
Section 3: That Section 14-12(d) of the Code of Ordinances of the
Village of Oak Brook be and is hereby amended to read as follows:
"(d) Season membership fee schedule*:

*Note: See subsection. (j) for golf surcharge. Any individual who has
either a family or individual membership at the Bath and Tennis Club
will qualify for a twenty percent discount applied to their golf season
membership."

Section 4: That Section 14-12(h) (3) of the Code of Ordinances of the
Village of Oak Brook be and is hereby amended to read as follows:
11(3) No alcoholic beverages may be brought onto the golf course or
Sports Core property other than those purchased from the golf course or
Bath and Tennis Club refreshment areas."
Section 5: That Section 14-13(b) of the Code of Ordinance of the
Village of Oak Brook be and is hereby amended to read as follows:
"(b) Membership and fee schedule*:
Membership Fees in effect through August 31, 1993:

*Note: Any individual who has either a family or individual membership at the
Bath and Tennis Club will qualify for a 20% discount applied to their
golf season membership.
Memberships effective in August, 1993 shall be payable at the rate of 1/3 of
the applicable rate listed above. Any member presenting evidence of
sponsorship of a new member shall be entitled to a $50 Sports Core gift
certificate. A new member shall mean any family or individual who was not a
member during the prior season."

Any non-member who wishes to become a member of the Bath and Tennis Club after
August 31, 1993 must pay an activation fee as follows:

Upon payment of the applicable activation fee, the monthly fees listed above
must be timely paid to maintain the applicable membership. If a person
becomes a member in the middle of a month, the monthly membership fee shall be
prorated.
If a person's account is 60 days past due, that person shall automatically
forfeit his or her membership privileges. If a person's account is 120 days
past due, that person shall automatically be deemed a non-member and shall be
responsible for another activation fee.
Section 6: That Section 14-13(c) of the Code of Ordinances of the
Village of Oak Brook be and is hereby amended to read as follows:
"(c) Membership and guest definitions. Persons paying the family,
individual or social fee shall be known as members.
(1) Family member. Will include husband and/or wife and all children
under the age of twenty-five (25) permanently residing in the
household of the principal member or members. Membership will
entitle the participant to utilize all the facilities at no
additional charge, except for food, beverage and special charges
for private service.
(2) Individual member. Will be an individual at least twenty-one (21)
years of age. Membership will entitle the participant to utilize
all the facilities at no additional charge, except for food,
beverage and special charges for private service.
(3) Individual senior membership. Will be an individual at least
sixty (60) years of age. Membership will entitle the participant
to utilize all the facilities at no additional charge, except for
food, beverage and special charges for private service.
(4) Social member. Membership will entitle the participants to
utilize the clubhouse dining facilities and to invite unlimited
dining guests.
a. Business social member: Shall be issued in the name of an

individual and in the name of his/her business. Such
membership shall include the person in whose name the card
is issued and any employee of the business in which the card
is issued who possesses the membership card with the
authority of the person in whose name it is issued.
b. Personal social member. Will include individuals and all
persons permanently residing in the household of the
principal member.
C. Resident social members may use the Bath and Tennis
recreation facilities not more than four (4) times a year,
provided that they pay the prevailing guest fee in the
Sports Core office.
(5) Bath and Tennis guests. Will be individuals registered by a
family or individual member, to utilize the tennis courts and
swimming pools and shall be limited to four (4) visits per year.
Guests may not charge vouchers and must be accompanied by the
member at all times. A member shall not be permitted to have more
than nine (9) guests per day without the approval of the Sports
Core Manager. Individual guest fees per person are set forth
below:
Guest Fees in Effect April 1, 1993:
Children Weekday $ 7.50
Children Weekend 10.00
Adult Weekday 10.00
Adult Weekend 12.50
(6) Individual junior membership. Will be an individual between the
ages of ten (10) and twenty-one (21) . Membership will entitle the
participant to utilize all the facilities at no additional charge,
except for food, beverage and special charges for private service.
Junior memberships shall include charging privileges only upon the
written consent of the parent or legal guardian.
Section 7: That Section 14-13(d) of the Code of Ordinances of the
Village of Oak Brook be and is hereby amended to read as follows:
"(d) Membership identification and charging.
(1) Members will be issued plastic cards indicating the type of
membership and the holder's name. Such cards will be used for
charging at the Bath and Tennis Club.
(2) All accounts will be payable upon receipt of statements. Any
balance not paid within thirty (30) days of the statement date

shall be charged an interest fee of one and five-tenths (1.5)
percent (eighteen (18) percent annual rate) . Membership
privileges on any accounts with unpaid balances over sixty (60)
days will be canceled, and any accounts with unpaid balances over
120 days will be terminated from the club.
(3) Payment for goods and services at the Bath and Tennis Club shall
be by way of charging, utilizing the membership cards.
However, at the barbecue hut, prepaid coupons may be used.
Prepaid coupons, in twelve dollar books, plus applicable sales
tax, may be obtained at the clubhouse by utilizing a membership
card.
(4) All charges for lessons shall be charged through the Bath and
Tennis Club. Fee schedules for lessons shall be posted at the
Clubhouse.
(5) Locker rentals shall be on a first-come, first-serve basis. The
annual rental charge per locker shall be thirty dollars ($30) .
Not more than sixty (60) percent of the lockers shall be rented.
All persons renting lockers must supply their own lock. The Bath
and Tennis Club will not be held responsible for any lost or
stolen items."
Section 8: That Section 14-13(f) (5) of the Code of Ordinances of the
Village of Oak Brook be and is hereby added as follows:
"(j) Children under the age of nine (9) must be accompanied by an adult
at all times, (except for organized swim team activities) , provided that
after 6:00 p.m. , children under the age of twelve (12) must be
accompanied by an adult."
Section 9: That Section 14-13(8) (1) of the Code of Ordinances of the
Village of Oak Brook be and is hereby added as follows:
"(g) Operation of tennis courts.
(1) The tennis courts may be utilized by family or individual members
and their registered guests. A one-dollar ($1.00) surcharge will be
charged for each person using the tennis courts provided, however, there
shall be no surcharge for children when participating in junior
programs."
Section 10: That Section 14-13(g) (3) (j) of the Code of Ordinances of
the Village of Oak Brook be and is hereby amended to read as follows:

Section 11: That Section 14-14 entitled, "Oak Brook Resident Sports
Core Membership", of the Code of Ordinances of the Village of Oak Brook be and
is hereby repealed.
Section 12: That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage, approval and publication as required by law.
Section 13: That the Village Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to
publish this ordinance in pamphlet form in the manner provided by law.
