AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION VIII(E) (1) OF THE ZONING ORDINANCE
OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, ORDINANCE G-60 AS AMENDED,
RELATIVE TO PERMITTED USES IN THE B-3 GENERAL BUSINESS DISTRICT
WHEREAS, an application has been filed requesting an amendment to Section
VIII(E) (1) of the Zoning Ordinance of the Village of Oak Brook to add an
additional permitted use in the B-3 Zoning District; and
WHEREAS, a public hearing on such application was conducted by the Zoning
Board of Appeals on July 6, 1993, pursuant to due and appropriate legal
notice; and
WHEREAS, the Zoning Board of Appeals made a recommendation that the
requested text amendment be approved; and
WHEREAS, the Village President and Board of Trustees have reviewed said
recommendation and concur with the same;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows:
Section 1: That the provisions of the preamble hereinabove set forth are
hereby adopted as though fully set forth herein.
Section 2: That Section VIII(E) (1) of the Zoning Ordinance of the
Village of Oak Brook be and is hereby amended to read as follows:
"(E) B3 General Business District.
(1) Permitted Uses:
(a) Accessory uses and structures.
(b) Animal hospitals and veterinarian offices.
(c) Art galleries.
(d) Auction rooms.
(e) Automobile accessory stores.
(f) Automobile sales establishments.
(g) Automobile service stations.
(h) Banks and other financial institutions.
(i) Bicycle stores - sales, rental and repair.
(j ) Blueprinting and photocopying establishments.
(k) Building material sales, not including outside storage.
(1) Camera and photographic supply stores.

(m) Carpet and rug stores.
(n) Cartage and express facilities, providing storage of goods, motor
trucks or other equipment is in a completely enclosed building.
(o) Catering establishments.
(p) China and glassware stores.
(q) Clinics, medical and dental, including accessory laboratories.
(r) Clothes pressing establishments.
(s) Clothing stores.
(t) Clothing and costume rental shops.
(u) Clubs, lodges and fraternal organizations.
(v) Cocktail lounges.
(w) Coin and philatelic stores.
(x) Department stores.
(y) Drug stores.
(z) Dry cleaning and laundry retail establishments, provided that
processing, if done on the premises, shall utilize nonexplosive,
nonflammable materials, that such processing shall be limited to
service of the principal use.
(aa) Electric distribution centers and substations.
(bb) Electrical, gas and other household appliance stores, including
radio and television sales and accessory repair and service
thereof.
(cc) Employment agencies.
(dd) Exhibition halls.
(ee) Fire stations.
(ff) Food stores - grocery stores, meat markets and delicatessens.
(gg) Furniture stores, including upholstery when conducted as part of
the retail operation and secondary to the principal use.
(hh) Furrier shops, including the incidental storage and conditioning
of furs.
(ii) Garages, public, where body repair and painting are incidental
accessory uses, but not including automobile wrecking yards.
(jj) Garages, storage.

(kk) Garden supply and seed stores.
(11) Gas regulator stations.
(mm) Greenhouses and conservatories.
(nn) Hobby shops, for retailing of items to be assembled or used away
from the premises.
(oo) Interior decorating shops, including upholstery and making of
draperies, slipcovers and other similar articles when conducted as
part of the retail operation and secondary to the principal use.
(pp) ' Jewelry stores, including watch repair.
(qq) Job printing shops, using presses having beds of not more than 14
inches by 20 inches.
(rr) Kennels, with no outdoor dog runs.
(ss) Laboratories, medical, dental or optical.
(tt) Leather goods and luggage stores.
(uu) Libraries.
(vv) Liquor stores, retail sales of package goods only.
(ww) Loan offices.
(xx) Locksmith shops.
(yy) Mail order service stores.
(ZZ) Millinery shops.
(aaa) Music stores, sheet music and phonograph record sales.
(bbb) Musical instrument sales and repair.
(ccc) Offices.
(ddd) Office supply stores.
(eee) Opticians and Optometrists.
(fff) Orthopedic and medical appliance stores, not including the
assembly or manufacture of such articles.
(ggg) Paint and wallpaper stores.
(hhh) Parking lots, for passenger motor vehicles only.
(iii) Pet service, domestic.
(jjj) Pet shops.

(kkk) Photography studios, including developing and printing of
photographs, when conducted on the premises as a part of the
retail business.
(111) Physical culture and health service, gymnasiums, reducing salons,
massage salons and public baths.
(mmm) Picture framing, when conducted on the premises for retail trade.
(nnn) Plumbing, heating, air conditioning and electrical fixtures and
equipment, showroom and shops, for domestic use only.
(000) Police stations.
(ppp) Radio and television service and repair shops.
(qqq) Recording studios.
(rrr) Recreational buildings, community centers and meeting halls.
(sss) Religious institutions, churches, chapels, temples or synagogues.
(ttt) Restaurants, including musical entertainment and dancing.
(uuu) Schools, commercial or trade, provided that operations do not
involve danger of fire, explosion, nor objectionable standards of
noise, vibration, smoke, dust, odor, glare, heat or other
nuisances.
(vvv) Sewing machine sales and services, household machines only.
(www) Shoe stores.
(xxx) Shoe and hat repair stores.
(yyy) Sporting goods stores.
(zzz) Tailor shops.
(aaaa) Taxidermists.
(bbbb) Telegraph offices.
(cccc) Theaters, indoor.
(dddd) Tobacco shops.
(eeee) Toy shops.
(ffff) Travel bureaus and transportation ticket offices.
(gggg) Typewriter and adding machine sales and service establishments.
(hhhh) Undertaking establishments and funeral parlors."
Section 3: That all ordinances or parts thereof in conflict with the
provisions of this ordinance shall be and the same are hereby repealed.

Section 4: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after passage, approval and publication in pamphlet form in the manner
provided by law.
Section 5: That the Village Clerk is authorized and directed to publish
this ordinance in pamphlet form as required by law.
