AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 7 ENTITLED "LIBRARY"
OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK
WHEREAS,the Oak Brook Library Commission has recommended revisions to Chapter 7 of the
Code of Ordinances of the Village of Oak Brook entitled, "Library".
WHEREAS, the Oak Brook Library Commission,the Library Administrator and the Village
Manager have recommended that certain changes and amendments be made to Chapter 7 of the Code
of Ordinances of the Village of Oak Brook, entitled, "Library".
WHEREAS, the Village President and Board of Trustees concur with these recommendations.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows:
Section 1: That Section 7-3 of the Code of Ordinances of the Village of Oak Brook be and is
hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 7-3. Fees and charges:
The following fees and charges are hereby established governing the Oak Brook Free Public
Library:
Fee or Charge Fee Amount
Non-resident cards Established annually by Illinois state law
Video cassettes, laser disks, DVDs, $1.00
per circulation period
Replacement library card $2.00
Returned checks As determined by the Village Finance
Officer
Inter-library loan transactions including As determined by the lending institution
loans and photocopies which need not
be returned
Overdue charges, per day, per item, not to
exceed $10.00 per item
Books, periodicals, audiocassettes, compact $ .10
disks, CD-ROMs, kits, circulating software,
vertical file items
Overdue charges, per day, per item, not to
exceed $10.00 per item
Video cassettes, laser disks, DVDs $1.00
Material checked out to "in-house" use $ .50 per hour
The maximum charge for any item not returned shall not exceed the replacement cost of such

item plus any overdue fines (such fines not to exceed $10) plus a $5 processing fee.
Library users shall pay the costs incurred by the Library in providing photocopies, printouts from
computers and microform reader/printers or other services requiring specialized equipment; the
Library Director shall determine these costs on a per-unit basis from time to time.
In-house online searches and outsourced searches will be used at the discretion of the librarians.
If an Oak Brook card holder requests online or outsourced searches, the requester shall pay the
database charges incurred by the search before search results are provided. Charges are
determined by the actual cost of the search. No service charge is added."
Section 2: That the Village Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to publish this Ordinance in
pamphlet form in the manner provided by law.
Section 3: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after passage, approval
and publication as provided by law.
Section 4: That all ordinances or parts thereof in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance be
and the same are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
