AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION XI(E)(8)
OF ORDINANCE G-60,AS AMENDED,
THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK
DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS
WHEREAS, the Village Manager,on behalf of the Village of Oak Brook, has filed an application
requesting an amendment to the Oak Brook Zoning Ordinance, Ordinance G-60, as amended, to clarify
and amend certain provisions of the Zoning Ordinance,and in particular, provisions pertaining to
restrictions on parking commercial vehicles in residential zone districts;and
WHEREAS, the Plan Commission of the Village of Oak Brook considered the proposed amendment
at its meeting on March 22, 1999 and recommended approval of the proposed text amendment, noting
that it would help protect the character of the neighborhood and property values; and
WHEREAS,on April 16, 1999, the Zoning Board of Appeals of the Village of Oak Brook held a public
hearing, pursuant to statutory notice, on the proposed amendment and has recommended approval of
said amendment to the President and Board of Trustees.
WHEREAS,the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Oak Brook concur with the
recommendations of the Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals,and find that passage of the
proposed text amendment will promote the public health, safety and welfare of the Village.
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK,DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows:
Section 1: That the provisions of the preamble hereinabove set forth are hereby adopted as though
fully set forth herein.
Section 2: That Section XI(E)(8)of Appendix A of the Code of Ordinances of the Village of Oak
Brook is hereby amended to state as follows:
"(8) Parking of Certain Commercial Vehicles and Equipment in Residence Districts
Prohibited. No motor vehicle bearing ambulance,funeral home, livery, taxi or tow
truck state license plates shall be stored or parked on any lot in any residence
district, unless such motor vehicle(s)is wholly enclosed in a building or such vehicle
is being used in connection with a legitimate service actually being rendered for the
benefit of such lot. No motor vehicle having a gross vehicle weight(including
vehicle and attached equipment and maximum load)* in excess of 8,000 pounds,
except vehicles registered as recreational vehicles under the Illinois Motor Vehicle
Code, and no contractor's equipment, supplies or tools, shall be stored or parked
on any lot in any residence district, unless
(i) such vehicle, equipment, supplies or tools are wholly enclosed within a building; or
(ii) such vehicle, equipment, supplies or tools are being used in connection with a
legitimate service actually being rendered for the benefit of such lot.
*Equivalent to Illinois Motor Vehicle Registration Class C and higher, second division
vehicles."
Section 3: That what are presently Sections XI(E)(8)through XI(E)(14)of Appendix A of the Code of
Ordinances of the Village of Oak Brook are renumbered to Sections XI(E)(9)through XI(E)(15).

Section 4: That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage,approval
and publication as required by law.
Section 5: That the Village Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to publish this ordinance in
pamphlet form in the manner provided by law.
