AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2
OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK
WHEREAS, commensurate with the comprehensive amendment to Chapter 12 of the Code of
Ordinances of the Village of Oak Brook,the Village Manager and staff have recommended that the office
of Village Engineer be moved from Chapter 12 to Chapter 2,that the office of Public Works Director be
created, and that the office of Commissioner of Noxious Weeds be eliminated;
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows:
Section 1:That the provisions of the preamble hereinabove set forth are hereby adopted as
though fully set forth herein.
Section 2: That Division 6 of Article III of Chapter 2 of the Code of Ordinances,which is currently
entitled "Commissioner of Noxious Weeds", is amended to read as follows:
"DIVISION 6. VILLAGE ENGINEER
Sec. 2-94. Office Created.
There is hereby created and established the office of village engineer.
Sec. 2-95. Appointed.
The village engineer shall be appointed by the president, by and with the consent of the
board.
Sec. 2-96. Qualifications.
No person shall be appointed to the office of village engineer unless such person is
registered under the provisions of the Illinois Professional Engineer Practice Act, 225
ILCS 325/1, et seq.
Sec. 2-97. Position Described.
The Village Engineer is an exempt position, reporting directly to the Village Manager and
responsible for the administration and direction of the Engineering Department. The
Village Engineer coordinates all functions of the Engineering Department and formulates
and prescribes work methods and procedures to be followed by all personnel of the
department.
Sec. 2-98. Reserved."
Section 3: That Article III of Chapter 2 of the Code of Ordinances of the Village of Oak Brook is
amended by adding the following:
"DIVISION 8. PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR
Sec. 2-103. Office Created.
There is hereby created and established the office of public works director.

The public works director shall be appointed by the president, by and with the consent of
the board.
Sec. 2-105. Position Described.
The Public Works Director is an exempt position, reporting directly to the Village Manager
and responsible for the administration and direction of the Public Works Department.
The Public Works Director coordinates all functions of the Public Works Department and
formulates and prescribes work methods and procedures to be followed by all personnel
of the Department."
Section 4: That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage,
approval and publication as required by law.
Section 5: That the Village Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to publish this ordinance in
pamphlet form in the manner provided by law.
