AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE USE OF
ARCHERY EQUIPMENT AND AMENDING SECTION 6 -1 -8
OF THE VILLAGE CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK
WHEREAS, the Corporate Authorities have determined that the unregulated use of archery
equipment within the corporate boundaries of the Village is inimical to the public health, safety and
welfare
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, as follows
Section 1 The foregoing preamble is restated and incorporated herein by reference as though
fully set forth herein
Section 2 Section 6 -1 -8A of the Village Code is hereby amended to read as follow
6 -1 -8 DISCHARGING FIREARMS, AIR RIFLES, ARROWS.
It shall be unlawful for any person to discharge any firearm, air rifle, paint gun, stun gun
or similar device or to fire any arrow within the corporate limits of the Village The
provisions of this subsection do not apply to
1 Law enforcement officials of this or any other jurisdiction, while engaged in the
operation of their official duties
2 Duly enrolled members of any organized club, team or society or participants in
classes or activities conducted by a governmental entity using an indoor or
outdoor range, including archery ranges, solely for target practice and in actual
connection with the activities of said club, team, society or governmental entity
Section 3 If any section, paragraph, clause or provision of this ordinance shall be held
invalid, the invalidity thereof shall not affect any of the other provisions of this ordinance
Section 4 All ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict
Section 5 This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval
and publication as required by law
