AN ORDINANCE FURTHER AMENDING ORDINANCE S-841
GRANTING AN AMENDED SPECIAL USE PERMIT
(Forest Preserve District, 1717 Oak Brook Road, Oak Brook, IL 60523)
WHEREAS, the Forest Preserve District has applied to the Village for an amendment to a special
use originally granted by Ordinance S -841, which approved a special use for the property commonly
known as 1717 Oak Brook Road for use as a historic facility; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance S -841 has been amended by Ordinances S -893, S -926, S -960, S -986 and
S -1007; and
WHEREAS, the Forest Preserve District, in this amendment now under consideration, has
requested that the area of the special use be expanded to allow for the inclusion of a breezeway between
the Peabody Mansion and the retreat wing, a foyer and new ADA- compliant restrooms; and
WHEREAS, the Plan Commission on January 21, 2002, recommended approval of the requested
amendment to the special use as amended; and
WHEREAS, a public hearing thereon was conducted by the Zoning Board of Appeals of the
Village of Oak Brook on February 5, 2002, pursuant to due and appropriate legal notice; and
WHEREAS, a recommendation has been made by both the said Zoning Board of Appeals and
Plan Commission that the amendment to special use as amended be granted; and
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees concur with the recommendations of the Zoning
Board of Appeals and Plan Commission and deem the passage of this ordinance to be in the best interest
and in furtherance of the general welfare of the Village of Oak Brook, subject to the conditions set forth
below;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows:
Section 1: That the provisions of the preamble hereinabove set forth are hereby adopted as
though fully set forth herein.
Section 2: That the special use granted pursuant to Ordinance S -841 is hereby further amended
to permit limited expansion by incorporating a breezeway connecting the mansion and retreat wing, a
foyer and new ADA - compliant restrooms.
Section 3: That this ordinance is limited to property located at 1717 Oak Brook Road, Oak
Brook, Illinois, which property is legally described as:
That part of fractional Section 34, lying North and South of the Indian Boundary line, all in
Township 39 North, Range 11 East of the Third Principal Meridian in DuPage County, IL,
described as follows:

Section 7: That except as amended hereby, the special use granted pursuant to Ordinances S-
841, S -893, S -926, S -960, S -986 and S -1007 be and the same is hereby ratified and confirmed in all
respects.
Section 8: That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after passage and
approval pursuant to law.
