Grade Separation
Gentlemen:
The Division of Highways has requested your approval of
the plans for that portion of the Route 83 Butterfield
Road grade separation job Located within the Village
Limits of Oak Brook.
This work consists of widening Route 83 North from the
North Service Drive to the Shopping Center, improving the
L6th Street intersection, installing new traffic signals there
and constructing service drives North from 16th Street.
I recommend your approval of the plans subject to their
being revised to provide for connecting Ernie Pyle Drive
(LSth Street) to the East Service Drive and providing for
a turnaround at the North end of the West Service Drive.
I would also suggest that the approval include a
recommendation that provision be made for future inter-
connection and synchronization of the traffic signals
at L6th Street with those signals South of the intersection
through 22nd Street.
Yours truly,

MEMO TO: President and Board of Trustees
SUBJECT: No Parking Ordinance Route 83
Gentlemen:
On November 24th, 1970, the president and board of trustees
approved, with minor modifications , the plans of the Illinois
Division of Highways for interchange improvements at Roosevelt
Road and Butterfield Road.
The Division of Highways has also requested that the Village of
Oak Brook amend its Traffic Ordinance of 1968 so as to prohibit
parking along the right-of-way of Route 83 as it extends through
the village. A copy of the ordinance proposed is attached
herewith.
Although we have not experienced any problem with respect to
parking along the right-of-way, local prohibition of parking is
required by the Division of Highways since Route 83 has been
designated as a limited access road.
The matter will be scheduled for board consideration on January
12th, 1971. °-°--
