CALL TO ORDER Chairman Cullum called the meeting to order at 5:02 p.m. 2. ROLL CALL Committee Members Present: Chairman Cullum, Doyle, McShane, Naquib Committee Members Absent: Dinkel, Richardson Others Present: Richard B. Boehm, Village Manager; Michael J. Meranda, Public Works Director; Dale L. Durfey, Jr., P.E., Village Engineer 3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES A motion was made by McShane, seconded by Doyle, to approve the minutes of the meeting held on April 14, 2004. Passed unanimously. 4. UNFINISHED BUSINESS A. Proiect Updates. Village Engineer Durfey provided updates on various pathway projects: Q York/Harger. Construction has started. The beams have been placed for the bridge widening on the south bridge and the excavation for one of the foundations for the north bridge has begun. The project is expected to be completed later this year. • 31" Street. ]DOT bid the project on June 11, 2004 and the low bidder was D Construction at $976,764. D Construction is the same contractor that is doing the York/Harger Path. Construction should start in about two months. • Salt Creek Greenway (Regional Trail). Phase II design engineering is continuing. The project will most likely be built in 2005. Member Naquib stated that several residents are very concerned about the pathway going behind the entrance walls. Several options were discussed and Member Naquib will meet with Village Engineer Durfey and a few residents to discuss them further. Durfey will inquire as to whether a lowering, of the wall can be included in the project. • Minutes of Oak Brook Safety Pathway Committee Meeting of June 16, 2004 Page 2 B. System Signage. Public Works Director Meranda stated that a color -coded system will be utilized for a Village -wide pathway system and that green will be used for the pathway around the Sports Core. Prior to making the signs, he needs to know what colors would be used for each leg. Meranda will mail a draft master plan to the Committee members for review and a special meeting will be scheduled to discuss and fine tune. C. System Maintenance. Public Works Director Meranda stated that his staff will be inspecting the entire pathway system and generating a maintenance list. His staff will then accomplish the necessary repairs. D. Street Markings. Village Engineer Durfey presented a plan sheet that meets the Committee's previous recommendation for a cross walk standard. Village Engineer Durfey stated that it would be placed into the Public Works Construction Standards that should go before the Village Board for revisions soon. 5. NEW BUSINESS Chairman Cullum inquired about the pathway within the Forest Preserve District adjacent to St. Paschal Drive. Village Engineer Durfey will send a letter to the District. Member Doyle asked if the Village's new website can include a pathway map that can be printable. Village Manager Boehm responded that the website recently went through a comprehensive upgrade and that this will be a future website revision. Member Doyle moved, seconded by Member McShane, that the Village include a Village pathway map, pathway information, and a link to pathway /roadway rules within the Village website. Passed unanimously. Member Doyle inquired about a proposed pathway along the east side of York Road southerly of Canterberry Lane (it has been many years since this was last investigated) and that the residents may now be more inclined to grant the necessary easements. Village Engineer Durfey will send letters to the residents along this roadway to ascertain their views. Chairman Cullum stated that he had heard that McDonald's was developing the block between 22nd Street, Spring Road, Commerce Drive and McDonald's Drive and that the Village should make sure that sidewalks /pathways be included. Village Manager Boehm and Village Engineer Durfey stated that that is part of the normal course of review. Member McShane inquired about access to the recently acquired Forest Preserve District property westerly of Adams Road. Village Manager Boehm stated that the District would probably create access in the future pending budgeting. 6. ADJOURNMENT A motion was made by Doyle, seconded by McShane, to adjourn the meeting at 5:54 p.m. Passed unanimously.
