Minutes - 07/13/1995 - Safety Pathway Committee• ORK BROOK SRFETY PATHWAY COMMITTEE MINUTES OF MEETING, JULY 139 1995 Committee Members: Heidi Huizenga John Hartmann Steve McShane* Connie Craig* Ana Sisson* Tom Richardson, Co- Chairman Rosetta Lombardi Sue Walters, Co- Chairman Tom Doyle* Dale Durfey, Village of Oak Brook Tom Hawk, Village of Oak Brook Bruce Kapff, Village of Oak Brook Tom Suhs, Oak Brook Park District *Present 1. Minutes of the June 15, 1995 meeting were modified and approved. The correction was to show that our recommendation to the village would be delayed by no more than 90 days, or until our September meeting. Corrected wording of motion carried at June meeting: The committee will delay making our recommendation to the village board for up to 90 days, until the village has time to provide expert opinions on two subjects raised by the group of residents: 1. Because of frequent flooding, the pathway alternative through the forest preserve from the south end of the Church property is often under water. Could the flooding be avoided, making this alternative feasible? 2. There are safety concerns about the termination of the pathway at Robinhood Ranch: Is there good reason for serious safety concern and can safety concerns be addressed by a traffic consultant? The village will be requested to provide opinions on these subjects before the September meeting. 1 t iTom Richardson will write a letter to Village Manager Steve Veitch with a copy to Karen Bushy, formally requesting that the village provide opinions on these subjects before our September meeting. 2. Resident Survey: The resident survey was discussed. Several general results were noted. Generally, the residents prefer asphalt over gravel. The pathways need maintenance. The pathways need to be connected. Connie Craig will work up a summary and interpretation sheet, an update on grant applications, and a map showing the current pathways, the pathways where grants have been approved. She will work with Tom Doyle to develop a professional presentation for the village board, and to be distributed to the residents with the village newsletter. 3. York Road: Connie Craig and Tom Richardson both spoke to Bruce Kapff regarding the resident comments made at our June meeting, and the motion to request information on flooding and safety. We understand that Bruce will prepare a white paper on the subject. Ana Sisson will ask Christ Church for input on the provision of easements. 4. Bicycle racks at Oakbrook Center. John Hartmann has asked the management of the Center, and they have indicated that they will follow our recommendations. Committee members will make observations before the next meeting, so a recommendation can be made. 5. The next meeting will be on September 14. We will skip the August meeting.
