RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move to authorize the Village Manager to sell certain
vehicles that have been seized by and awarded to the Village of Oak Brook Police Department.
Background /History:
Detective Sergeant Jeffrey Weber asked us to prepare this ordinance authorizing the Village
Manager to sell certain vehicles seized by the police department pursuant to the Illinois Criminal
Code. The vehicles are not in good condition and cannot be used by the Police Department.
Recommendation:
I recommend that the Village Board authorize the Village Manager to sell the vehicles identified
in the ordinance.

ORDINANCE 2004 -PP -S -1064
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF CERTAIN
PERSONAL PROPERTY OWNED BY
THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK
WHEREAS, the Village of Oak Brook (hereinafter the "Village ") has taken title to the below listed
vehicles pursuant to court order and the seizure and forfeiture provisions of the Illinois Criminal Code (see
720 ILCS 5/36 -1 and following sections); and
WHEREAS, in the opinion of a majority of the corporate authorities of the Village, it is no longer
necessary or useful to or in the best interests of the Village to retain the below described vehicles which
are surplus personal property now owned by the Village, and
WHEREAS, the Village wishes to auction said vehicles over the internet or by other auction
service,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows
Section 1 That the foregoing recitals are incorporated herein as findings of the corporate
authorities
Section 2 That pursuant to 65 ILCS 5/11 -76 -4, the President and Board of Trustees find that the
following described vehicles-

Section 3 That pursuant to 65 ILCS 5/11 -76 -4, the Village Manager is hereby authorized and
directed to sell the aforesaid vehicles, now owned by the Village, to the highest bidder by auction over the
internet or by other auction service.
Section 4: That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval
and publication as required by law
