RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move that the Village Board adopt the attached ordinance
authorizing the sale of surplus items.
Background/History:
The attached ordinance authorizes the sale of two (2) desks and twenty -five (25) light fixtures
and that have reached the end of their useful life or have been replaced with newer models.
The Village will first register the vehicles, furniture, computer office and public works
equipment with an online auctioneer run by the State of Illinois, known as iBid. If inadequate or
no bids are received through the online auction, staff will advertise for bids in the local
newspaper. If no bids are received through the newspaper advertisement, items will be offered
to local schools, churches and not - for - profit agencies. Any remaining items will be disposed of.
Recommendation:
Staff recommends that the Village Board adopt the attached ordinance authorizing the sale of
surplus items.

ORDINANCE 2010 -PP -S -1280
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SALE THROUGH ELECTRONIC
AUCTION OR BROKER, DONATION OR DISPOSAL OF CERTAIN ITEMS
OF PERSONAL PROPERTY OWNED BY THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK
WHEREAS, in the opinion of a majority of the corporate authorities, it is no longer necessary or
useful or in the best interests of the Village to retain the items of personal property listed below, and
WHEREAS, the Village wishes to dispose of said property by sale through electronic auction or
broker, donation or disposal;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows:
Section 1: The foregoing recitals are incorporated herein as findings of the corporate
authorities.
Section 2: Pursuant to 65 ILCS 5/11 -76-4, the President and Board of Trustees find that the
items listed below, now owned by the Village, are surplus property and are no longer necessary or useful
to the Village and the best interests of the Village will be served by their sale through electronic auction or
broker.
Section 3: Pursuant to 65 ILCS 5/11 -76 -4, the Village Manager is hereby authorized and
directed to dispose of the above items by sale through electronic auction or broker, if possible, or by
donation or disposal if sale is not possible.
Section 6: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and
publication as required by law.
