Z rAll f 0I RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move that the Village Board adopt the attached ordinance authorizing the sale of a surplus 1996 Chevrolet Lumina Cargo Mini -van. Background/History: The attached ordinance authorizes the sale of Unit 400, a 1996 Chevrolet Lumina Cargo Minivan, which was used by the Engineering Department. This 14 year -old minivan has over 100,000 miles and a Kelly Blue (KBB) trade -in value of $775. With the retirement of the Village's Engineer, Dale Durfey, this vehicle is no longer needed. The Oak Brook Park District has offered to purchase the van in the amount of $800, pending approval from their Board of Commissioners. If the Park Board of Commissioners does not approve the sale, the Village will then register the vehicle with an online auctioneer run by the State of Illinois, known as iBid. If inadequate or no bids are received through the online auction, staff will advertise for bids in the local newspaper. If no bids are received through the newspaper advertisement, items will be offered to local schools, churches and not - for - profit agencies. Any remaining items will be disposed of. Recommendation: Staff recommends that the Village Board adopt the attached ordinance authorizing the sale of a surplus 1996 Chevrolet Lumina Cargo Mini -van. 9� Last saved by rserence 1: \WORDDOC \SURPLUS\2010 Surplus\2010 Chevy Lumina.doc Last printed 423/2010 10 :35 AM ORDINANCE 2010 -PP -S -1283 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SALE, DONATION OR DISPOSAL OF CERTAIN ITEMS OF PERSONAL PROPERTY OWNED BY THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK WHEREAS, in the opinion of a majority of the corporate authorities, it is no longer necessary or useful or in the best interests of the Village to retain the item of personal property listed below; and WHEREAS, the Village wishes to dispose of said property by sale, donation or disposal; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows: Section 1: The foregoing recitals are incorporated herein as findings of the corporate authorities. Section 2: Pursuant to 65 ILCS 5/11 -76 -4, the President and Board of Trustees find that the item listed below, now owned by the Village, is surplus property and is no longer necessary or useful to the Village and the best interests of the Village will be served by its sale.
