G-1004 - 06/11/2013 - CONSERVATION CODE - Ordinances Supporting DocumentsAGENDA ITEM
Regular Board of Trustees Meeting
of
June 11, 2013
SUBJECT: Text Amendment — Title 10, Building Regulations
FROM: Bill Hudson, Chief Building Inspector
BUDGET SOURCE/BUDGET IMPACT: None
RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move for passage of Ordinance G -1004, "An Ordinance
Amending Section 10 -1 -1H of the Village Code Relating to the Energy Conservation Code
Back ¢ round /History:
The State of Illinois mandates that local governments adhere to certain public acts, one of which
is the Illinois Energy Efficient Building Act which restricts the authority of municipalities to
adopt energy efficient building standards which are inconsistent with the Act and with the latest -
published edition of the International Energy Conservation Code. Because the Village Code
currently delineates the 2009 edition of the Energy Conservation Code there has been some
confusion and issues with compliance with the 2012 edition of the Energy Conservation Code
which the State mandates that we use. A simple text amendment to Section 10 -1 -1H of the
Village Code will clear up these issues.
Recommendation:
I recommend that this Ordinance be passed.
